Stopped here twice during canal holiday on the Trent and Mersey. Both times we were warmly welcomed and well served when we wanted to mix and match items from the extensive menu. Great value food. Good vegetarian choices and the Mushy Peas were to die for. Oh, and the beer was good too

Yesterday we called at this pub for a snack lunch just after 1.00p.m. Our party of five included my 87 year old wheelchair bound mother. As it was a fine day and since it would have been difficult to manoevre the wheel chair in between the tables and chairs inside the pub, we decided to sit outside. Having oredered our drinks we then asked the barman (or possibly the landlord?) if we could order some baguettes. He advised us to give our order to a member of the kitchen staff. My aunt spoke to one of them who responded quite abruptly that they didn't serve food to outside tables! depite my husband's offer to collect the food himself, the response was a categorical "No" as it was "against our rule and we stick to it" The most annoying aspect of all this was that this "rule" was not made clear at the outset despite the fact that my aunt had let the barman know we were outside before ordering the drinks. So much for equality for the disabled! May I suggest that this pub instills the system used successfully by many other establishments and numbers the tables then issues numbered tickets or wooden spoons to customers?

A large brick build with small seating area outside on the street.
The interior, as londinieres says, is a nesting of 5 rooms, in which there were a TV, dartboard etc, but sadly they all seem to be set up for food. You would have killed someone had you tried to play darts! The decor was red and white, with lots of different kinds of picture and memorabilia on the walls, as well as books on the shelves. Lots of ornaments as well, and a nice fireplace in the one room. Service was functional, but i think that was because it was rammed out on a Thu night. Clientel was mixed to the more mature, the only Henley's T-Shirts i saw walked past the place, with bottles in hand.
Beer; tap stuff with three handpulls; Burton Bitter, Pedigree and a fabulous pint of Wychwood Beewyched.
I would have liked this place better if there were less people in, as i am miserable. I would go again though, more than happily. Alrewas is a nice place and the three pubs left in the town are nice.

I think it was the bunch of chav`s outside having a puff that put us off this pub.

A fine pub with 5 rooms, one for food, the other for TV, one for arrows and all for drinking several types of Burton beer. Occasionally a guest beer available, the range of food is varied and tastes great, and the Landlord and Landlady always say hello.
