Elephant And Castle, Dawleyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The Elephant & Castle was my penultimate pub of the day in Shropshire. This is another decent establishment in what is a quiet area of Telford. The landlord was friendly and knowledgeable. The pub appears to be focused around decent conversation, with everybody getting involved. Ales were Joule''s Pale, Lymestone Foundation Stone, Tring Side Pocket For A Toad & Ludlow Blonde. The real cider on the board had just gone. But he did have a suitable replacement - Abrahall''s Thundering Molly. Families are welcome. Moved on from here to the Three Crowns, which was not a patch on this one and is not listed on here.

Is it fair to rate a pub when it's just opened for the evening and you're the first customers through the door? Yes, when it doesn't open until four on a Saturday afternoon. Six handpulls, three on, and what was coming through them was too cold, as was the pub.
This could be a good place and maybe it is at another time but something was definitely missing.

Well....this pub could have been soo right..but it is flawed. A commendable and brave choice to feature locAles. But the serving of them has to be spot on..as any knowledgeable local will have tasted many of them elsewhere. Pricing policy..as with owners Oakengates pub seems to be one of higher prices keep away the sort of people who are looking for a cheap pint of anything, rather than real ales, only time will tell if this is sound business decision.

The pub may be just finding its feet upon reopening but needs to get the basics right if it is to maintain the customer loyalty. The price of beers do not reflect the location - Hobsons Mild 2.75. The Shires bitter had lost something on the 3 mile journey from Madeley - or maybe it was the serving? Whilst welcoming the improvements the offering will have to be spot on to draw in custom from the likes of the Forresters Arms and the Cock.

Reopened a couple of weeks ago by John Ellis of the Crown, Oakengates. They had 6 shropshire beers (3 of which I tried and enjoyed). Apparently when the lounge is open there will be another 6 (different) shropshire ales. Function room is due to open shortly
