Cracking real ales, with Tim Taylors the regular. Got a bit busy the last time I visited but it was the Christmas period. Did not eat there but the food that came out looked good and good portions. Dog friendly in the bar. Will visit next time in Richmond!

Pleasant market place pub, geared up for TV football and less food trade than elsewhere. Nice staff offered CAMRA discount on an OK half of Landlord, I doubt I've had a good pint of Landlord anywhere in 5 years though, bit like Wherry.

4 Handpumps with Taylor Landlord as a regular. Others may be national or a local micro. A good selection of reasonably priced home cooked food. 10% discount on real ales for Camra members.

Ale was in tip top condition.

Top place - nice food, cracking real ale with a rotating selection that includes NO Black Sheep which is refreshing - if you are lucky enough to catch Landlord on then it is sublime. Coverpoint's comments about the clientele are unfair. Never seen any problems there and enjoy visiting though admittedly it is the younger end of the market. One point I have to make is that the inkeepers ale keeping skills have converted several locals from tastless keg to the ale - worth 9 out of 10 just for that!!!

It's tough to find a decent pub in Richmond town centre if, like me, you are seeking an opportunity to drink quality cask ale in a comfortable, welcoming environment. This place has at least made an effort to appeal to the cask ale drinker by having two pumps on (serving Old Hooky and Landlord on my visit).
That said the blue lights, pumping tunes, pool table, fruit machines and 4 cocktails for a tenner unfortunately seems to attract a clientele that undoes this good work. My over-riding memory of this place will be of a coven of four hefty lasses, displaying pounds of wobbling flesh, supping cocktails, whilst trying to appeal to the local menfolk using a combination of intimidation, graphic language and the promise of an accommodating, yet frightening evening of congress.
I drank my well-kept and reasonably priced Landlord swiftly while studiously avoiding eye contact with all and sundry - not an experience I'd want to repeat!

WOW - what a change of management can do for a place. new bods in , Paul and Graham, starting selling real ale - and damn good ale too - sometimes two pumps which is great for the desert of ale that is Richmond. AND it isnt the monopolistic Black Sheep. Bob, seriously mate give it a go again. One of the friendliest welcomes you are gonna receive in Richmond. Oh did I mention the great ale too!!!

Is it me or what, we went to this pub last weekend, not many in and waited to be served at the far end of the bar, woman behind the bar was talking to four locals and when I asked for a beer she looked up then looked away and carried on talking, this pub will never be used by me again, anyone else found this in there?
