One man to serve beer to around 20 tables? He is a legend. Time and time again this lovely place comes up with perfectly served quality beers. It's not a huge range by Brussels standards but the dozen or so are always worth coming back for. The speedily prepared snacks are basic (for Belgium) but tasty. Another great visit.

a quality Flemish tavern down a dark alley - venture forth into the world of Lambic beers. The Gueuze is quality - the food is exemplary, after all it is Belgium. No jukebox, no boorish prats and no mobile phones - that's why it's better than a Wetherspoons!

This is one of the best places to drink one beer in the whole world. The "lambic doux" of the house is simply magic, the atmosphere is fantastic. If you are in Brussels, you absolutely can't miss a little break here. Great!

Fantastic Pub, serving lambic beers on draft in lovely little jugs. Sweet Lambic was 4.20 for 500ml.
Tasted amazing.

Food is basic but well priced in an otherwise expensive city.

Hard to find but worth searching for.

Another amazing pub just off the Grand Place, and again hidden up a tiny alley. It is vitally important to visit this pub when in the area as it is the only pub in Brussels to serve genuine lambic on draft. Sit on benches at long tables and order a jug of lambic beer - no nonsence, just perfection. Does some pretty decent pub grub too: try their pasta.

This place is stunning, not just because of the simple, unfussy interior, but as it's about the only place you can get authentic draft lambic beers, including kriek made with real fruit not the syrup rubbish.

An absolute essential if you're in Brussels and want to understand Belgian beer.

Near the Bourse. Don't be put off by the unpromising entrance alley. This is a pleasant, wood-panelled space with decent beer at reasonable prices and a limited range of good-looking snacks up to spag bol. Well worth a visit.
