The Albert has some nice traditional features. But, unfortunately the positives stop there. The two handpulls look rather forlorn, with real ale no longer available. The keg selection was Carling, Coors Light, John Smith's, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruits, Grolsch, Worthington's Creamflow & Guinness. Very disappointing.

Came in on a Monday in mid december. It was quite quiet with about 6 people in including myself and the lad i was with. The place is a bit odd with a seating area next to the door and then steps up to some more seats, It's not not big though and there are mirrors around the bar. 2 ales were on when i was in, Adnams Ghost Ship and Broadside, both well priced and at 2.20 a pint. The pub is now owned by the Craft Union company so it's generally a well priced pub. They also have tellies and music was playing, a little but too loud for me to say it wasn't busy at all. Bar man seemed friendly. I'm unsure about opening times but I assume it's open everyday if it was open on a Monday night. Although I did go in during the Christmas period so I'm not sure if they would be open on a Monday in January, for example. Worth a look in either way.

Visited early one Friday evening. Split level inside, with what looks like some nice woodwork for the bar. Interesting features, this place could have ambience and decent ales on tap. But they are missing a trick, loud music, nobody in. Marstons EPA the only beer. Probably get the crowds later on.

The inaugural John Bonser roadshow tour of Huddersfield pubs got off to a rather ignominious start last Thursday lunchtime - finding this pub closed, shrouded in scaffolding with an Enterprise Inns banner hanging down proudly proclaiming -" Pub/ restaurant business to let - early December".
All external pub signage has currently been removed, but I did notice 2 Good Beer Guide stickers rather forlornly still displayed on one of the windows.
Let's hope that the heritage listed interior to which a previous entry refers, is not vandalised in the name of what the big pub owning barons euphemistically refer to as "improvements"

Gave me a right old dodgy pint of Fosters - apart from that though nice old decor and it had some good beers and lagers on probably serves me right for ordering Fosters.

A lovely looking and well kept pub with a racist, bigoted landlord. Quite expensive and the beer is far too cold (the Landlord told me that's how bitter should be kept).

Traditional pub in the City Centre with heritage listed interior. Unusually the (continuous) bar is split over two levels. No smoking section, food available. TV but no Sky. 6-7 ever changing real ales including a mild, in excellent condition. Very friendly landlord.
