Walked into this pub this evening after work and waited about five minutes, before the guy I was with tried (politely) to get the attendtion of the barstaff. It wasn't that busy and generally you'd expect a nod in your direction acknowledging you. Instead bar man leaned over and said (exact quote) - "You'll get you're f**king drink when I'm f**king ready". Incredible. It's not a very nice pub either. Go to the Counting House or the Banker if you're in this area - atmosphere and pleasant staff. Leave this place to the dregs that staff it.

One of Fuller's upmarket restaurant pubs. Very good Pride (and Malbec....) Friendly staff, excellent cheeseburgers, but this is the City so too expensive for regular luchtime visits. Now my local, so far too convenient.

One of the most expensive pubs in the southern part of the City, but the beer is very well kept, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is pretty good. Don't go in there for a quick pint if you're feeling hungry though. The smell of the griddles is almost too much to bear - as is the smoke when the ventilation isn't working properly. Plenty of seating too, which makes a change for City venues.

From the outside, it looks like a loud, shouty City pub (and in many ways it is). However, at least they don't pump out music at excessive volume in the early evening. Also, at least half of the clientele seem to be outside on the pavement so it is actually not too crowded even at Friday going-home time. A Fullers pub, with a pint of Discovery at 3.40.

Totally disagree with the negative review from Oct 2006 - obviously a plant. Service, beers, food (great steaks), wine list - all excellent. It's bang in the middle of The City though so the pints are pricey. Gets increasingly busy on Thursdays as word gets around what a good place it is.

Great evening, good busy atmosphere and attentive staff. Open kitchen meant that we chose to eat. Yum... good choice, had a great wine list and reasonably priced considering where we were. Would definately go back.

A disgrace in terms of price, quality, service and value for money.
I could not belive it when someone told me it was owned by Fullers as I use several of their other pubs (The Butchers Hook and The Chamberlain) and find them to be excellent.
Fullers have made a big mistake here and I am not the only local business person to think this.
