Sadly this place has gone to the dogs. Guest ales were noticable by their absence. The only thing on was the usual mass produced nitro-fizz kiddie lagers. As far as I can gather they have changed landlords twice in the past year. Pete has gone and took the buzz and atmosphere this pub had with him. Now its just another souless bar in a city full of souless bars. This just proves that so much of what makes a pub great is down to the landlord and the customers. Lose that and all you are left with is an empty space.

I went here with a mate midweek in the afternoon and I thought this place was pretty poor. No ales on tap, terrible digital radio station playing loud intermittent music, atmosphere as flat as the lager I was forced to buy through lack of choice.

Nice pub, went in and chatted to the lovely Kate, who apologised profusely when there was no lagers on tap and lent me her darts to play with. Definitely will be popping back in..

Nice to see the pub getting good reviews, Because let me tell you boys and girls, this pub was probably the busiest pub in the east end bar none, in the late seventies to late eighties this pub was sardines, thur- sun There was a couple of others equally like it, The rose and punch bowl, carpenters arms, jug house, prince regent to name but a few. those were the days. you dont know what you missed.

Not a bad little place, specially on Karaoke night. Only thing is, it's a bit dark!

This has to be my favourite pub in the country. Beer always in good shape. A good rotation of real ales. Interesting locals. A DJ playing decent old time rock & roll with some 80's thrown in for good measure. Best of all no bloody chavs.

I'm biased about this place because I left my bag in there one night... I was at Bank tube station before i realised, so it would have been lying there for about 45 minutes by the time I got back - which was just after closing time...

To my eternal relief, the very agreeable landlord presented it back to me at the door with a chirpy "Safest pub in the East End!".

So, as I say, I'm biased about the Old Globe... But it IS a very friendly pub with a good range of beers!

Found it by accident after wandering around Stepney one rainy afternoon. Good selection of guest beers, and a 'cask marquee' rating on its way apparently. An all round very good east-end boozer. What a proper pub should be.

Just seen that I've already written my opinion on this pub but its a pointless one so thought I'd write another. Pub is a good laugh. Great music (DJ PETE is the best) friendly locals, and a nice atmosphere. Pub quiz is dominated by professionals (lol) so avoid if you don't want to lose! Beer range is okay - though no Stella Artois and nearest alternative is Red Stripe which tastes of onions. Had a revamp last year and is nice inside - plus the toilets are clean now! Barman's mum is nice enough - scares me a bit though.

Top pub, great barpeeps, reasonable prices considering it's in the Capital. Great band the other Saturday...I'll be back!

Its a nice place, friendly bar staff (including mother in law who is Peggy Mitchell with a temper), music would benefit from some Abba type stuff. Be nice to have karaoke once in a while.

just came back to Northern Ireland from Stepney Green yesterday(18/6/2003).The Old Globe is the least expensive, most friendly pub I was in while in Stepney Green (though wetherspoons was quite cheap),but The Old Globe had music and pub quizes,so it was more fun.I know what you mean about the barman's mum, though she did give us a little off our pints! Thanks babes!!!We'll definately be back here again...

Nice traditional pub with East end charm and friendly bar man - although watch out for his mum.
