Scrumpy - this pub opens at 2pm, weekdays.

Don't know what's happened to this pub but it is most definitely a zero rating. Three handpumps now redundant - asked for a pint of bitter and was offered keg John Smiths. Not a soul in the place (unlike the packed Cricketers up the road). Seems like it has changed hands and the new owners want to run it to the point of closure.

I'd stood outside this pub shortly after midday in the pouring rain waiting for this pub to open, with no answer on the pub's telephone. I eventually gave up and returned much later in the evening to finally find it open. This is a fairly large corner pub with 2 bars. There were 3 or 4 people in one room watching the darts and another person in the other room. The ale choice was good - Roosters Yankee, Thornbridge Jaipur & Ilkley Fireside Porter. Another enjoyable St Helens pub, when it finally opened! I continued on to the Brown Edge (not listed on here), another pub that had earlier been closed.

Always a warm welcome and well kept ales. Nicely tucked away from town centre. Well worth a visit.

Excellent - very friendly, traditional decor, and very decent beer, but unmistakably a drinkers pub.

Friendly pub. Good selection of well kept real ale.

Very friendly local that now serves very nice cask beer

Very nicely done since the previous owners left.
Wide varity of drinks, live sports, live bands, pool table. Really done well, heard even more upgrades are planned. Really does feel like a local now especially the way the inside is now.
Great pub and nicely tucked away from the main areas.
