Had a reasonable pint in here but still feels pretty much like a chain pub.

Now the Major Oak it has become a cracking pub with great choice of Ale and friendly efficient staff.

Not too much change since it was Hogs except better choice of ales. Camra Discount now too!

Need to see for myself how the new owner has changed the selection of ales. Did read his quotes in Nottm Drinker magazine, but will need to see for myself.

Supposedly upgraded quality and selection of Beer but when I went in the other week the Ale was so warm I suggeted the cooler in cellar must be on the blink and the Barmaid just shrugged and asked if I wanted John Smiths instead. Needless to say I'm not in a hurry to go back any time soon.

I'm surprised that there are so few comments as this must be one of the most popular pubs in Nottingham. Not my sort of place later in the evening but busy earlier on with an age mixture. Large TV screens for football etc.
Sometimes have a problem getting served but usually fine. Good food , though a limited choice of beers.
All in all one of the city centre's best pubs.
