Called at the weekend and wish that I had not bothered. Only Bass and Doombar available. The Doombar was dreadful. Either the barrel was well past its sell-by date or the beer lines are in dire need of cleaning. Maybe both. At £3.30 a pint, I expect my beer in tip-top condition. Add to that a very unfriendly atmosphere and extremely loud music a rating of 1/10 is being very generous.

it just gets worse , now its a gambling den and the beer is undrinkable

Reopened recently after several month of being closed.
Called in to try a pint on Wednesday lunchtime. It was empty apart from two kids sitting on a sofa watching TV. No sign of any adults. After waiting for five minutes to be served I walked out.
If this is how they treat customers I won't be at all surprised to to see it closed again soon.

dreadful place called in on my way to the pattenmakers as noticed a beer fest on ,if serving out of condition cloudy undrinkable beer can be called a beer fest, found the place to be very unfriendly

Pleasant enough, though bland and uninspiring. Looked like an 80's throwback. Nothing wrong with it though.

Visited 29/6/10, 7pm. Much improved since my last visit there in 2005. Five beers on. The Sharps Doom Bar was in good nick. One pump didn't have a brewery name so I asked the barman what it was. A terse reply of "I don't know" was eventually followed up by a visit to the cellar and he reported back with the answer. I would call again.

I'm not raving about the pub itself but the beer was enjoyable. Big brands on offer were Bass and Ruddles County. Guests were Springhead Sweetlips and Blue Monkey 99 Red Baboons. I opted for the 99 Red Baboons which was well kept but served with a slightly bigger head than I like to see on a pint.
