Unfortunately the quality of both beer and barmaids has gone down in this pub ! And the TVs have got more intrusive. There was one room without a TV, but there wewre no tables in it – only about a dozen low stools !

Another pub I'm surprised I haven't reviewed before.
Is split into 4 smallish rooms with a central bar. Each room has a large TV which normally shows sport but today, when I wanted to watch something (test match cricket) they were switched off.
Had 6 real ales on, though they were almost all "national" brands, and almost all golden ales (yuk !).
The food is usually good with large portions, but I didn't eat there today.
Still has the best barmaids in town - hence 7/10 rather than 6.

Decent Pub with a selection of 3 ales. Hydes best was particularly good
|
Good quality draught Bass and an open fire on a very cold Boxing Day.
|
4 ales inc Doom Bar (nice pint). Busy when we went in on Saturday afternoon. Nice dry white wine
|
This pub came highly recommended. Staff were superb. Food was plentiful but the beer was average. I had a passable pint of Landlord, but the bombardier tasted sour. would have liked to see more micros represented
|
Nice interior, low ceilings, split into various small rooms. Good beer garden with bar and external televisions. Food was decent and huge portions. Had 4 good cask ales on but on the expensive side at 2.70 a pint.

real ale fans do not miss this gem,at least 4 guests on tap at any one time, plus the food is very highly recommend by freinds, even though i have yet to sample.

Weve got to tell that when (on the recommendation of the barman at the Crown) we entered this pub, we were very hungry. When we left the pub, we thought we couldnt have been, as we left so much. Not because the food was bad, (it was brilliant) but because there was so much of it. Even Desperate Dan would have struggled.
The beer was excellent, the customers were a great laugh and oh, that barmaid, the blonde one with page three credentials !

too small inside, too small outside, and when that lazy git nigel is in the bar area even less room.

A Wedding, any excuse for drink, count me in!!!!
|
born in wales but spent the majority of my life in nantwich i first encounted the boot and shoe in my mid teens when bob and sylvia were hosts, i've drank there on a regular basis ever since. knowing all subsequent hosts ever since including myself and ex wife sarah i can sincerely say without predudice to anyone that nigel and jan are the perfect hosts. i'm based down in london and travel up north 3 to 4 times a year and without fail end up in the boot where after 5 minutes i feel like i've never been away, how lucky am i? long may it continue. respect john.

Spoilt for choice on the beer front, it makes a lovely change to visit a pub and always be greeted by the very friendly staff! As for the food....try it - fantastic! Keep it up guys

I am So Pleased to see this pub finally on the website, I have only visited it once when in the area 6 months ago on business and found it to be a lovely traditional pub with excellent beer and food, the staff were really cheerful, I will be sure to return on my next visit to Nantwich
