Popped in after a Friends of Dartford Creek work party clearing the lock side. Pleased to see real ale (London Pride) on the bar despite CAMRA's Whatpub suggesting that no real ale was available. A good little local.

Popped in the pub Saturday night. Absolutely terrific band playing, SLIDER a group doing punk rock. And it was free!
Nice beer, bit crowded so needed more than one barmaid on duty.

I've visited the Hufflers a few times since the new owner took over and the refurb has done wonders; much brighter, open bar area and the toilets have benefitted from a much needed overhaul. It now shows sports on a couple of screens and has live music. Definitely worth a visit!

Indeed Daniel567, it is a locals pub, and nothing wrong at all. I've been drinking in there for a couple of years now. There are new people taking over soon, with lots of plans for refurb and it looks like it will be a great place to drink!!

This is indeed a locals pub, but what's wrong with locals pubs? Easy solution: go there a few times and you'll be a local...

I have been a regular visiter of this pub since the start of my A levels,i have always enoyed the company and found the bar staff easy to talk to and very chatty. Being a student i also find the food a reasonable price and always good quality, service with a smile is always provided. Always a good atmosphere whenever i am there.

The Hufflers Arms is very much a pub for the locals and is situated a short walk from the local train station. My recent visit (18th Dec) was actually my third and the place doesnt get any more comfortable whatsoever. Its a very rough and ready establishment with grizzly faced regulars perched on bar side stools who like to stare. Even the staff seem standoffish. It doesnt appear to be an awful pub though and I have no such problems with places that cater primarily for nearby residents, but I have been in many others where new customers are treated as if theyre not inhabitants from a different planet and I rally do not think this is much to expect. Oh well, Ive given here as few chances now. Hufflers Arms, your time is up!

Tucked away down an uninviting no through road behind the station in the shadow of a gasometer, the Hufflers is a bit off limits to most people. The pub takes its unique name from a now extinct workforce of labourers who would steer the barges along the nearby Dartford creek. The interior does not look like it has significantly changed for several years although at some point the pub was much smaller but has been extended into the adjacent cottage. It has a fairly jaded look with worn carpets and a fairly tatty feel to it but is quite homely. There are several old photos, plates, irons, cigarette cards and nautical instruments, boat wheels and steering poles etc. The area around the street side of the bar where most people seem to congregate can be quite cramped and one cant help thinking the general layout could be better. The pool table seems to take up a huge percentage of the floor area and frequently has to be uprooted and moved, especially when there is any live entertainment (and I have to say that the standard of live music here that I have seen does appear to be far superior to the normal Saturday night karaoke junk). There are 3 TVs generally used for sport and a small but not particularly picturesque beer patio. The only Ale is Courage Best and on the 3 visits I have made over the last few months, it has been virtually undrinkable. For all its shortcomings, the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and if it were not for the quality of the beers, this would be worthy of more frequent visits.
