I got a metaphysical hangover even walking into this pub. The amount of mismatched furniture and other shit meant I felt slightly queasy even before having any beer of which there wasn't much.

Seeing as Tesco, Budgens, Sainsburys & Abdab next to the post office I can only imagine that Asda or Morrisons will buy it, it seems to me that the high street is still lacking on supermarkets! The place was Cr*p so glad its gone .

Lucy75...i never like to see pubs closing down really. I just thought that this place was a poor excuse for a pub. Lets hope it reopens as something better. Heard a whisper that it coud be a wetherspoons ?

Got your wish "Nickthefish" It's all boarded up! Wonder what they are going to change it to this time. This place has had more names than Puff Daddy....or whatever his name is?!?!?

I am not surprised this place is closing down and wouldn't miss it either!
Why they say they are child friendly is beyond me - I asked if it was ok to come in New Years Eve for food with friends and our children. Was told as long as we were out by 7pm would be fine. There was quite a lot of us (We were pretty much the only people in the bar, other than about 5 other people). They were just totally stressed about the kids and worried they were going to pop their balloons that were on the floor for the evening (like adults really want balloons)!! The Bar woman and manager were making it quite clear they didn't want us there, a friend heard the Bar woman say "i'm going to strangle one of those kids in a minute" !! charming. 7 o clock and we were pretty much asked to leave - which probably took away their biggest trade that evening!

..the steak may be good but not at those prices! No wonder the doors will be shut for good in a couple of weeks!
highstreetdrinker - 26 Jan 2009 14:53
Well the steak might be good but not good enough to save the plave as they close soon!
HamptonBoozer123 - 26 Jan 2009 10:03
the steak may be 16.95...but have you tried it....yes its expensive but its well worth the money
MissXDecadence - 14 Jan 2009 20:36
...16.99 for a steak!!!!
...16.40 for 4 drinks and a bowl of nuts!!!!
Get real please, this is supposed to be High Street pub not Gordon bloody Ramseys.
Food is average, service too long as a shortage of staff and prices far too High. Rumour has it that Wetherspoons are taking over. .....cant wait!
highstreetdrinker - 6 Jan 2009 11:37
Does this pub serve beer though???

Named after the nearby man made river..and therein lies its problem. Its false and not what it pretends to be. Ugly, long, overpriced bar. Only redeeming feature was the helpful polite barman.

I came here for the first time last Saturday and loved it! Wasn't as busy as I thought it'd be but really glad I tried it out. Good food and nice surroundings. Staff were efficient and friendly. Definatley recommended.

Much better as Cafe Society, this place is more of a starting point for the evening than an evening itself. Pumped about 500k into doing itself up a few years ago and its just constantly dead! Maybe its the size... My mate summed it up when he said it tries to hard and that its more a "pretty pub" than anything else. Good on a friday, saturday night - usually full of fanny - The majority of its paying customers come from the Insurance place across the road.

I agree with past comments.Good customer service, plenty of room, not noisy and very clean.Yes, i was the only one in there.Atmosphere! There's more hospitable atmosphere on mars.It feels like you gone to a party and noones turned up.How does a plce like that stay open.?This must be the first time i say yes to converting a boozer into flats. At least there will be some people in them.

I love coming here. It's good to be trated well. The staff here seem to go the extra mile to impress and the food is to die for! Recommended.

It's always nice to be in clean, modern surroundings. Had a cocktail or two in there on Tuesday night and stayed much longer than I should have! Would recommend.

Been in here a few times recently. Overall feeling is that it hasn't quite managed to make up it's mind what it wants to be - pub, wine bar, restaurant. Often difficult to be all things at once and do them all well. Perhaps this is why it doesn't seem to feel like it has a lot of atmosphere. That being said, on the plus side - it's always clean and tidy, plenty of space so you can have a quiet chat, nice food and the guy behind the bar is hugely helpful and keen to give a good service. Worth a try if you fancy a quiet but modern setting.

I don't know why the place keeps closing and being refurbed as never seems any different. However the waiter service for drinks is a great idea the staff are very accommodating and the food is very nice - Just think it needs more variety on the menu.

Great you can take your kids in there as well. (as long as you are out by 7.00pm) Although there isn't a kids menu.

I went in here for Lunch on Thursday and although the staff and food were excellent, it was basically the same as the stone house/cafe society and its earlier incarnates. no prizes but can anyone remember what it was called before cafe society? None of us could remember, although I used to spend every weekend in there.

I went to the Longford Wednesday 12 July and had a superb meal. It is nice to come back from a busy day at work in London and sit, relax and enjoy a delightful meal in a hassle free, friendly environment. Hats off to the staff who could not do enough for me and my friends to make the evening an enjoyable one. We will be back!!

Well what a difference this place is from what it was before. Went there last week for the first time since they had a refurb and was very impressed. Great atmosphere, food was top notch and the staff were very friendly. Well done guys!!

someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought serving food off wooden items was now illegal in the UK under Health guidelines.
Rememeber pizzas used to be served on wooden boards a few years back in resturants? but I'm sure it was banned, well simply because .... it's filthy!
I hope they aren't doing it in Hampton.
anonymous - 10 Jul 2006 22:26
Called The Longford now, not the Stonehouse. Bit too poncey for my liking, and they serve your food on a wooden board - use plates for christs sake.
