This is a very large pub at the top of Lark Lane (coming from Sefton Park), with 4 separate areas to sit down at. It's a nice pub and you can tell there is probably some history to this place, but unfortunately there is very little history provided about the place. In fact, it seems to be owned by a chain pub (not sure which one). The bar is huge and goes around the whole pub so you can order from where ever you are sat (or you at least don't have to walk as far as you may have to if there was only one part you could get served at). Behind the bar it looks quite interesting with a display of a mirror, some beer barrels and a Cains brewery symbol at the top. Around the pub itself there were a few fruit machines, tvs with sky sports news on and they had music playing. The barman was friendly and the locals all seemed decent enough when I was in on a Sunday afternoon. The cask selection was quite poor, they had- Lancaster Bomber, Greene King IPA and Old Rosie Scrumpy as well. I went for the IPA at 2.80, it was well kept but obviously not an exciting pint. . Not a bad place, a tad disappointing and a bit of a trek to get to.

The Albert was my third of four pubs I tried on Lark Lane on Easter Saturday lunchtime. The Lodge, Rhubarb and Love & Rockets are not listed on here. Lark Lane has become a fairly trendy place to wine and dine, with dozens of bars and cafes. The Albert remains the only real traditional pub. It does look a little dated from the outside. But the interior is still worth seeing. The ale range appears to have gone downhill since my last visit over 7 years ago though. Only Black Sheep Best & Courage Best were on. I was the only customer.

@Italian Scouser - It's miles away from Anfield.
Anfield is north Liverpool, Lark Lane in Aigburth is 5 miles away in south Liverpool!!!

If you are a Scouser or you love LFC you have to drink a pint in The Albert. Close to Anfield you can breath the Spirit of Shankly and see the real soul of Liverpool. Beer simply good and cheap: John Smiths extra smooth my favourite.

Nice Victorian pub in a seemingly bohemian street in Liverpool. A pleasant environment to have a quiet drink or two. Real ales on during my visit were London Pride, TT Landlord, Cains, Broadside and Shepherd Neame Rudolph's Reward. There's plenty of restaurants and cafes on the same street if you fancy something to eat. Alternatively the pub does meal deals itself.

Went here last friday for first time in about 5 years. Glad I did. One of the best (and one of the only) pubs in the area! Nice interior, reasonably priced beer and friendly bar staff. Had a couple of pints here and then had a pleasant walk through Sefton Park to the Aigburth Arms.

Quirky and a little bit bohemian, some decent ale. Worth a visit

Recommended as part of a proper Liverpool experience, on one of the liveliest suburban streets. Atmosphere may up for a dull glass of Cains. Cheap and very cheerful.

Great pub, great regulars especially in the afternoon. Mean pint of Guinness. Good with dogs. Nice smoking area tho not been there since the ban. Would definitely recommend.

the beer is gash, the place is magnificent, and the menu? melted fuggin cheddar cheese all over the shop.
trust me, this place is to put it simply, marvellous stuff, but to be fair its the people that make the place what it is.

The closest thing on earth to the bar in the first Star Wars film. Don't go in without a blaster or a light sabre...
