I have reported this pub as closed to BITE admin

The pub that was for years The Boat has (as of October 2008) been converted into an Indian Restaurant - The New Lodge.
As such it should probably no longer feature on this site!

After a recent chequered history, this pub has now closed. On 29th October 2008, the building opened as an fine Indian Restaurant (licensed) - The New Lodge.
While this nationwide loss of pubs to Indian restaurants is very sad, it this case it is probably all for the better.

not a pub anymore, now an Indian restaurant.

Got to say it looked closed to us so did not stop.

It's back to being a pub again! About time. The gaffer seems ot know what he's doing but it will take a while to get it back on it's feet. When i went they'd only got a couple of beers on and it was a bit sparse but he's pretty much got to re-do the place while it's open. Should be good once everything is in place.
Development potential.

I last visited the Old Boat for a drink at 10.00 p.m. on a Friday night sometime last year and, after standing at the bar dehydrating for a few minutes, the confused barstaff kindly informed me that they were closed. One double-take at my watch later and I was off towards the George for an excellent pint of Pedigree. The Old Boat is not a pub and doesn't sell beer in the evening.

We went there for a meal and found out this was not a proper pub... it has been converted into restaurant only :(
However the food was very good, the service reasonable but I think it is a mistake to have it as a restaurant only... May be they will change back to a bar??? It also bans under 14 year olds so it is a very civilised place to go!!!
Nice location - you can go for a canalside walk to walk off your dinner!
