Me and my mates love it here all the staff are so quick and switched on. The bands cover rock music which suits us then when the band finish the dj takes us back to club days!! (but in a friendly atmosphere this time) LOL

So, I go abroad for a few years and come back and the good intent is no more..... what happened to the bar where they used to clear the blood from the floor every night and where they had to employ at least 7 bouncers and everyone was off their face on E's....

thank god those days have gone, I enjoyed a lovely meal and the people were friendly, it is good to be back in horndean after so long and actually have a nice pub to go to!!

This place seems to be getting better and better! We havent been in for a couple of months as I have been working abroad but were amazed at even more changes the new owners have made over the last couple of months!
It seems that the team at the Colonial Bar have gone in to overdrive...their 2 meals for 10 seems to really be taking off. They seem to have creacked it with quality traditional grub and amazing value.
Christmas seems to be packed full of events, Christmas menus, Christmas Eve party, New Years eve, all their ususal entertainment and even a Childrens Christmas party on the 23rd! We have snapped up 6 tickets for our 2 and 4 of their friend, great value.
The place is looking even better, (it was good before tho!). They have added some new softer furniture, built a stage and added some pretty nifty lighting. Added to that they seem to have loads more entertainment booked for 2008 and some pretty big names too. If you havent already been down, you dont know what you are missing...you wont be dissappointed!

My Wife and I now visit the Colonial Bar on a regular basis (2-3 timess a week). The Colonial is definately the best pub for some distance. Their food is fantastic value with the 2 main meals for 10 offer and their "all drinks @ 2" deal makes for a very cheap night out.
The live entertainment every weekend is better than any of the other local venues and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting and never any trouble (unlike all the other pubs in the area).
We really cant find fault anywhere with the Colonial Bar and would defnately recommend a visit. We are so impressed with what they do that we have booked in for Christmas dinner already and hired a balcony for a big family party.

This is my uncles bar! It's so nice I think in the evening to have a meal cooked by Fyne the chef, whos food is spectacular and original.

They have some good bands playing too. It took them longer than expected but it was worth it. Everytime i'm down in Portsmouth I always go there with my mum. Love it!

Still a little quiet during the day but it takes a long time to turn a bad reputation round! The owners are trying very hard to give a friendly and cheerful welcome and provide a very high standard of service both from behind the bar and with their excellent food (this is very high standard pub grub cooked by a qualified chef). The decoration is new and clean but rather clinical, which makes such a large area seem very sparse, but that's nothing that a few bright colours, plants, ornamentation and mood lighting couldn't resolve! The evening musical entertainment is said to be very good and, if you enjoy a bit of gentle jazz over a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon then make sure you give it a try between 1500 and 1800. I tried this pub with some trepidation but found myself very pleasantly surprised - it has all the makings of becomming the No 1 pub in the area as long as it's not allowed to be spoilt by some of the local ruffians and ne'er do wells.

Ex-Good Intent , Berni Inn etc newly refurbed again....No Smoking.

Huge place often looking empty.

Comes complete with awful reputation from the past - Good Luck ...
