Out for a Sunday walk, wandered in, service was OK. Tried my Ploughman's test, it was outstanding, Scotch egg, cooked to order. Beer was very good, Palmer's at it's best. I think the guy said they had recently taken over, good start.

Nice enough pub which was not very busy just after midday today. Like most others, we sat in the terraced garden with its outlook to Thorncombe Beacon. Perhaps not the cheapest place around with a decent pint of Palmers Colmer's costing £3.90. Service was friendly enough but the chap serving didn't seem to have much experience behind a bar. Car park attendant at the beach had said it was very busy for food last night.

Went for a couple of beers from the nearby beautiful campsite but was really disappointment. Very unfriendly pub atmosphere and bar staff. Palmers ale is on offer and was served ok. Sat in the pleasant garden for.my first pint as locals wouldn't get out of our way at the bar. Wished I hadn't bothered with a second. Just can't believe pubs like this survive.

Unwelcoming - i was informed kitchen was closed by the lady behind the bar when myself and party only enquired if a snack was available following a long walk on a glorious sunny early afternoon..It id really not that difficult to be help full particularly in these times.. Sadly, it spoilt our afternoon however, we did enjoy our dining experience near by. Will not return.

Called in for lunch. The Copper Ale wasn't up to much on the day I visited. Lunch was pretty good. The beer garden was pretty squalid and unloved. This should be a great little pub but isn't. The owners need to get their act together. Disappointing.

Deeply unpleasant pint of Palmers copper ale from the end of a barrel. Replaced with fresh pint, but still not great.
The food was not great, it was featured in a TV program with Hugh Fernley Whittingstall as the venue for the pudding club, so the tourists come regardless.
The food was not great, we tried the pudding based on reputation and that was not great either.
Dirty and unkempt.
I would not go back.

We visited this pub during a walk in the area. Ha a reasonable ploughmans lunch here and a couple of ales, nice enough and would go back.

We always enjoy our visits to this Inn. Warm welcome, good food at reasonable prices so a positive for us. Personally I always phone restaurants or pubs to ensure opening but maybe that is my own way of ensuring accommodation! Try it perhaps?

Checked this pub out on a Sunday to see if they were open the next day as we would be passing by at the end of a walk. The board outside said that it was open from 6pm on Mondays. Got there on the Monday gagging for a pint or more at 6.40pm and it was closed with a sign outside (which wasn't there the day before) saying "closed on Mondays". Grrrrrrr There is a hotel just down the road which, although not yet open fully for the summer did have a bar open serving one real ale and was friendly.

A small group of us on a coastal walk visited the pub today hoping for lunch and refreshments but it was closed for a long weekend, including Valentine's Day! One of our group had checked the pub website previously but there was no mention of it being closed (nor any mention of opening hours for that matter). So can't comment on the pub as we couldn't get in!

Turned up, after a long day travelling at 8.35pm, with two parties including 6 hungrey children, to be informed that they stop serving food at 8.30pm and we could go into Bridport or West Bay for fish & chips. Unfriendly and unhelpful landlord. The beer was good but not good enough to ever encourage me to use this pub again.

A grumpy, taciturn landlord greeted us. However, the pub was full on a mid week evening in April and the beer was really excellent. The food was also excellent with large portions, home cooked and locally sourced. Even the landlord turned out to be friendly and helpful, a very good find. 5 mins up the lane from the SW path.

Real pub serving excellent real ales in an incredibly friendly atmosphere. Food of an excellent standard - home cooked not nuked. Specials with an Irish flavour. Views to die for from a well maintained terraced beer garden on three levels with ready access to the Jurassic coast.

Not sure about this one - there were hardly any customers in on a Sunday lunchtime. The Palmers Copper Ale was not as good as it could be. Also they could do with tidying it up outside at the front - dog ends and burnt bits of cardboard next to the seating.
It wouldn't take much to spruce it up a bit - inside it has a nice layout. And the seating area at the front could easily be quite nice. Only 6 out of 10 this time.

Donal and Jackie have made The New Inn cosy, comfortable and above all very welcoming. It's like walking into their front room! The food is excellent and very reasonable. It's everything a proper pub should be! A log fire in the winter and a lovely balcony/decking area with stunning views in the summer. I recently went to their Burns Night and what a brilliant night it was! Everyone got chatting and singing and all had a good time - including children and dogs! Give The New Inn a visit, you won't be disappointed!

My slight quibble is the fact that they allow glasse and plates to build up over the course of the day when it is busy. When I stay in Bridport , I tend to walk here, the lane is very narrowand dangerous.

This is an excellent 'local' set in a little village in the heart of the World Famous Jurrasic Coast line. Steve the landlord always has at least three well kept Palmers beers on offer and the food is very good as well. Well worth seeking out.
