user reviews of the Watershed Cafe Bar, Bristol

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The good thing about the Watershed is that you can feel comfortable and at home any time of the day - a late morning pint with the papers, a long afternoon session or a more buzzy evening drink with a crowd. Plenty of seating and lots going on. Food is filling and good, but sometimes a long wait at lunchtimes - it is a big place! Always have local ales on, though Arbour Ales are not my fave. More of a bar than a pub, but better than all the pubs in the vicinity.

Large popular venue on the waterfront, much better than most of the bars nearby. More of a cafe/bar than a pub, but some decent beers on.
Several different bar areas, the main central area being open and spacious with exposed brickwork and a high vaulted ceiling. Some large floor to ceiling windows giving a great view across the river. Decent looking food menu chalked up on the blackboards behind the bar.
Three pumps on, all offering Arbor Ales - Oyster Stout, Brigstowe Bitter and Hunny Beer. There was a large advert behid the bar for Bath Ales beers, but none of these were on. There was a fourth pump not in use, so maybe that has them on sometimes. Ciders were Bath Ales Bounders, and the rare Orchard Pig.
Also a few continental lagers such as Budvar, San Miguel, etc.

Pleasent modern pub with good(but pricey) ale from Arbour and Bath.An excellent pre or post- cinema venue.A much better example of this sort of thing than the Tobacco Factory. Worth a look. 8/10 for the beer and 6/10 for the pub.

Three pumps but no ales on yesterday which was disappointing and a poor effort really. Didn't stick around so cannot comment on anything else- looked fairly busy.

Went in here Sunday for a bit of peace and relaxation, and was surrounded by screaming kids running amok whilst parents sipped wine and ignored them- wont be back on Sundays as this has become ridiculous.

Someone should tell Arbor Ales that although the Watershed seems to have a policy of serving their beers, unfortunately they are not serving them in good condition or at least not on our visit. First pint was cloudy and flat. (Brigstow). Barman reluctantly agreed it probably shouldn't be served like that (cheers!), changed it for Oyster Stout which was pretty flat and lifeless and I'm sure not how the good brewers intended. They carried on serving the dodgy beer as well, for goodness sake.

A bit pretentious but always a chilled atmosphere, food is average, good for people watching

Went there about 10 years ago. Don't remember much!!

Last post from Oct 2007 says 2.90 for a pint of Gem! How much is a pint of Gem (or ale) now!? Must be at least 3.50!!! Does anyone know?

Nice for a jar before or after the flicks (Watershed cinema in same building).

Trendy crowd, same sort of deal as the Chapter in Cardiff, that sort of thing.

Nice beer, but they do know how to charge - 3.25 for one organic lager, even Bath Gem (common enough these days) is 2.90.

Then, it isn't meant to be a 'boozer'.

Good people watching too.

Lovely pint of Bellringer and no smoking to boot! Recommended

Excellent bar for students, beardies and trendies and now stocks a couple of Bath Ales which are always good.

Great views across the docks too, and a great warm-up before a trip to the Thekla or Louisiana.
