I went to this pub last night as I had just moved into the area. It is difficult to describe how grubby and old fashioned this place is. There are two bars one large with a few seats, a pool table and darts board and one smaller for eating in. Whilst I was in the smaller bar the landlady just came in and turned the tv onto Sky sport assuming I was a fan I suppose. I was too timid to ask her to turn it off ( I was the only one in). The decor is awful, dated and held together with dust and extraneous bits of electric cabling. There are brass objects and odd bits of crockery hanging from walls and ceilings. The landlady is quite frightening (dour is probably best description). The toilets are rank. The pint of Doombar was ok. I didn't eat there and neither would I as I just get the feeling hygiene is not the top of their priorities. The whole place needs gutting and starting again with new landlords.

I have been coming to this pub for 9yrs and have given it a rating of 9 in t.he past, but oh dear! what a dreadful experience I had last time. 24 walkers on a day trip, who will never be seen again took precedence over a family group which resulted in a wait for food of about an hour and a half. 2yr old children do not deal well with that kind of a delay. Nor do their parents who find the only loo capable of being a baby changing room full of "band equipment". No alternative was offered and the nappy change was done in the car! The food when it did arrive was the sadest meal I've had to pay for in a very long time: under-cooked chips, raw peas and flabby, soggy batter falling off a pathetically small cod. When we were asked 'is everything ok?' I explained my extreme displeasure with the service, food and treatment and free round of drinks was strategically offered immediately after some of the group had just bought!! And this was the first enquiry about our well being in two hours. The free round was declined and no discount was offered on the bill. It will be some time before I return.

Nice pub in the edge of Edenbridge. Three ales on including Pride & Sambrook's "Wandle" ale. The Wandle was excellent although I'm not convinced it's "Spicy & herbaceous" as stated on Sambrook's website! Food service was a bit slow but the food was cheap and good.

Under new management and giving Marlpit Hill a real sense of community, The Swan is now full of atomosphere, charm and fun. The menu offers a good selection and the carvery leaves guests more than content and full of praise. In the winter the pub welcomes its guests with a log fire and cosy seating and come the sun, the extensive garden offers guests both sun and shade and plenty of space for children to run and play.
Nic and Steve are always warm and welcoming and they go the extra mile to ensure customers are well catered for and made to feel "right at home".
If you are passing, do drop in - you wont be disappointed.

My Local is now beginning to be the pub I always hoped it would be. I shall be going more often.

this pub has recently been taken over and is the best i`ve seen it for years.good prices, good beers and the food seems to be improving too.keep up the good work.

I love The Swan. It has a lovely big grassy beer garden around the back where the pub dog (a lovely black labrador) keeps you company. The staff are real friendly and the food is good. The only reason I don't go there as often as I would like is that I simply cannot afford the prices (3.35 a pint of Kroney). They seem to put them up a bit more every time I go back. Oh well, you can't win them all I suppose.

A pleasant and friendly pub with a big garden where the pub dogs invite you to throw tennis balls for them. Pride and Harvey's for the ale drinkers. I went for the Harvey's, several times! Very good. Did think 3.10 a pint a bit on the high side.

The Swan has been taken over yet again by new people at the end of 2007 and has undergone a slight revival. Food, not previously served at lunch, is now available. A small but experimental menu I think. Beer prices have reduced, yes that is reduced. The large tv screen has been removed and the new people are going to give it a a couple of years to turn round. It has great potential, on the main road with a garden and the only pub for some walking distance, it certainly should flourish. Bomardier, Larkins and Spitfire are the ales.

Pleasant enough, but nothing out of the ordinary. Friendly bar staff and good beer - but very expensive.

My weekend local. A family run good honest bar. Spacious top bar and a cosy VIP lounge. Nice friendly licensees, staff and regulars. Quality live music at least once a month on weekends. Good garden for the kids. A clean ,safe and happy pub.

Easily the best pub in the town. Always a friendly welcome & relaxed atmosphere- no idiots are suffered here. Nicely kept big garden for the good weather, good honest home made food at lunchtimes, log fire, nice polite staff & top beer.Highly recommended

I have been to the swan quite a few times since the newish owners have been there and i really believe it has changed for the better. it is warm friendly and has a good atmosphere especially on a friday. It also has quite a few good bands on and i always feel welcome. The front looks fantastic and great for summer and the inside is all the original building exposed it has a lively bar and a cosy bar. A good old pub. I also hear that they are selling up which is a shame someone will be getting a great pub

This is a very strict pub. I was "told off" for talking to loadly and using inadequate language such as "bloody" and "crap". I would understand if there were people eating, but as my friend and i were the only two customers they had. The pub has recently been refurbished and now the nicest part of the pub is the umbrellers and large benches out near the main road. This used to be a very friendly and homely pub before it changed hands and was refurbished. This pub now resembles a new barn conversion.
