WILL NOT BE GOING BACK
I had a club sandwich and my wife the pea and mint soup, 25 minuets after ordering I had to ask if the food would be much longer as I had to go back to work and didn't think that it would take so long for a sandwich and soup, after 5 more minutes the food came
1. chicken was dry as if it had been sat on the pass
2. I think the coleslaw was from a shop
3. the bread was soggy from the coleslaw
4. chips where cold
5. my wife's soup was very tasty but it was so hot that after 10 minutes she still couldn't eat it as if at had been microwaved
6. on check back waitress ask if the food was ok I said rushed after the long wait nothing was said back she just walked off
7. when paying I was asked if the food was ok I replied no and again nothing was asked about this she just looked down at the card reader.
We have tried to contact the restaurant twice but they are not will to talk to me.

Pleasant pub, open all day, which def earns it a bonus point. Staff seemed pleasant. I had a Thatchers Gold cider to drink, which hit the spot, but the beer selection seemed reasonable. Attractive interior and good beer garden, well worth a visit.

My wife and I have been to the Angel twice in the last two months for lunch both times together and with our 13 year old eldest. Consistantly excellent service with food which although not cheap was beautifully presented and hit the spot each time. Very good fruity guest beer from Yorkshire on first visit. Sunday roasts very good according to sister in law who ate their last Sunday on our recommendation. Eat in the bar if you can.

My wife and I had a meal here while staying nearby. We went for the simple menu in the bar and the food was very good. The staff were friendly and we felt comfortable and at home in the pleasant atmosphere of this warm pub. Also called in for coffee in the morning and received the same warm welcome.

Called in on our way to Bath, just of A36. What a find we both had the Ribeye which aparently is hung for 35 days. It certainly made a difference. Terrific. Looking forward to our next visit as the roast looked pretty good aswell.

recently spent 5 nights at the angel, and was delighted to find a perfect place in such a charming country village. staff were very welcoming and helpful, and i spent each evening dining in the pub as the food was superb! a great selection varying each night, no complaints. although rooms were inexpensive, the great atmosphere, whether you're looking for a quiet pint or for a more lively night out, and friendly service made up for it. i'll definitely be back soon!

This Pub was strongly recommended by a friend who had visited ten or so years ago. Clearly time has taken its toll and we were very disappointed. The interior is similar to a city Pub pretending to be a country ale house and that doesn't work. The staff were disinterested and the food mediocre at best. A great disappointment.

We stayed at the Angel recently whilst attending a wedding in a nearby village. We were very disappointed and at one stage were determined not to pay the bill so poor was the service. We reached a compromise and left very disappoited. We certainly would not consider using this pub again.

Really rather disappointing; the pub was full of Hooray Henrys down from London. The staff had a mildly disinterested approach to service. The food was reasonably well prepared but overpriced for this area. Many better places to spend an evening quite close by.

This really is a wonderful pub. It has a cosy atmosphere with very friendly staff. It is perfect for a quiet pint or bottle of vino. Food is wonderful, either in the bar or restaurant. Steak is highly recommended.

Very selective with customers, Super gold credit cards always welcome, unlike the locals

Better than nothing, doesn't look like a pub inside, and is really more of a restaurant. Good food, but expensive. Full of stupendously posh people. Pretty slick cooking as you would hope, but B&B operation not so slick (Burnt toast, odd tastes, lousy tea, slow service). Cask beer reasonable, a bit flat, not too expensive. Better management would improve the place no end.

This pub is either run or owned by Anthony Worrel Thompson. Exquisite food, unbeleivable prices & relaxing / calming decor. Anthony has been spotted leaving the kitchens of the establishment on Sundays and heading straight for the bar. Book ahead to avoid dissapointment. Thoroughly recommend the roast pork.

Yet another restaurant masquerading for a pub. Staff made it pretty plain that they didn't like the fact that I'd entered for a drink only. This attitude is becoming all too prevalent especially in rural pubs.
