Apparently UB40's favourite pub but don't let that put you off. A friendly welcome and a well chosen selection of ales greeted us. A mountain of snacks line the bar while proper food is Anglo-Indian and intriguing. Close to the glorious Curzon Street terminal and may end up being swallowed by HS2, it's very close to another good pub in The Woodman.

Clearly work in progress, restoring the pub to (what I assume) was it's former glory. Decent, but small, range of ale. Separate pool & darts room at the bank. A shop is part of the pub as well. desrves to succeed

I heard that the Eagle and Tun had re-opened, so popped my head in when walking past the other day. I didn't have time to stop for a drink at that time. Good traditional pub. There were only a few customers early Saturday evening. The only cask ale that appeared to be on was Wye Valley HPA, certainly an acceptable choice. Staff seemed friendly, and are obviously keen to increase customers after such a long period of closure. Hopefully when trade increases they may be able to offer additional ales (though unlikely to rival the range at the adjacent Woodman!). Could be a useful alternative to the Woodman when the latter gets crowded or has a noisy quiz going on.

Whoever this Mr Iqbal is, I hope he does a better job than the previous owners who, I believe, bought the premises with the intention of refurbishing and opening in Summer 2012.... They appointed a manager (someone who is known to me), promising employment & accommodation then, well, just left it?!... Not a good way to treat people in my humble opinion.. Anyway, I wish the new licencee well, but if there is any connection to the previous regime, I for one will not be drinking here.

Supposed to be opening in December after a light refurb. Iqbal Mohammed Iqbal now owns the leasehold. But he is muslim so I doubt he will be actually running the pub.
There is nothing around here anymore so it probably will close again in a few months with beer prices, business rates etc.

Pleased to let everyone know that the Eagle & Tun is no longer closed. We opened on 6/12/06 and have refurbished the pub back to a friendly local. We have entertainment on at weekends in the guise of DJ's & Karaoke. Bar snacks are available and kitchen will be open again shortly providing full meals. If you were a regular visitor previously or your trying the pub for the first time - you will be assured of a friendly welcome.

Unable to visit The Eagle & Tun as it was closed. Reliably informed it had been smashed up by some punters following a disagreement with The Landlord. Some evidence of this with boarded up windows and damaged leaded lights.
