user reviews of the Vic Bar, Fleetwood

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Always busy on Saturday nights with entertainment, (bands) are on, or when local events are in the vicinity of the Hotel. Real ale is a bit hit and miss, but usually drinkable. A superb stained glass mural is over the bar, which needs to have the backlights switched on to get the full effect. Unfortunately the bars manager must personally pay the electric bill as the last few times I have been in the mural was unlit, which mutes the atmosphere a little..........shame.

Part of a very impressive, semi-circular building (designed by the renowned architect Decimus Burton) which dates back to Fleetwood's short-lived heyday as the ferry port for travellers to Scotland before completion of what became the West Coast railway line. It comprises two large rooms - one with a door leading from the North Euston Hotel lobby, and the other from a separate entrance called the Victoria (or Vic) Bar. Also has a smaller side room (which I guess is used for live music and other functions) and a pool table. Quite smart inside, with an interesting stained glass panel illustrating various aspects of the hotel's heritage above one half of the long bar (which is divided between the two main rooms). Five handpumps offering a fair selection of real ale (including a decent pint of Wickwar Coopers at 2.75).

Went here a couple of Sundays ago for my second visit. The two staff members that I encountered were really friendly and the pint of Reverend James I had was delicious and very well kept. Didn't get the chance to try the food so can't vouch for taste, but the couple next to us had some and the portions looked generous. I love the location of this pub where you can just sit and watch the trams go past

Used to be a good bar but beer selection is hit and miss as are the bar staff. The hotel is up for sale so theres not much chance of any improvement on the horizon

The price of a pint in this place now is ridiculous. 2.60 for Carling. And they've barred all the staff because of the actions of a few. Don't bother with it.

This is a great pub, and is part of a fab hotel. The assistant restaurant manager is the dog's b******s. Have a meal in the restaurant, and this guy will make your night

A very friendly establishment with cheerful and friendly staff that would go out of their way to help you.

Very good food indeed throughout the day and live entertainment at weekends
