Lovely pub run by a lovely friendly couple. The beer is excellent and the food is very good and reasonably priced. It's full of locals which gives it a good atmosphere but which can make it a bit cliquey at times.
Worth a visit.

Went in on Sunday, seemed a decent village pub but difficult to tell as was packed out due to showing the Stevenage v. Spurs game. Will try again on a normal Sunday.

One of the better McMullens pubs of the day. Had a pint of Stokers Mate. I am not keen on the everyday McMullens brews but their one off and occasional beers tend to be quite nice, as the Stokers Mate was in this case. This is a pub of two halves, though mainly food orientated it is okay for soemone who just wants a swift ale. As you go in the bar to the left is more pub like while to the right is more food aligned.

I stopped by this pub just this friday night, It was a lovely atmosphere within the restaurant with just amazing service and excellent food that was very reasonably priced. After my meal I went into the pub area where it seemed also very cosy but it seemed the landlady was celebrating and had a bit of a party going on. Apart from that, I would happily recommend this pub & restaurant to anyone! 10/10

Lovely country pub in a rural setting with a nice garden. The inside is small but cosy and nicely decorated. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The menu is varied and the food portions are of a good size and reasonable priced. I would recommend anyone in the area to visit the pub themselves.

Lovely old style pub in a grezt location. Smashing beer garden. Got stared out by a local who was sitting by the door. Beer i had was McMullen Country Best which was lovely. Staff seemed quite friendly.

This is a lovely location for a pub and the building is traditional English etc. and it has a very nice garden.
The beer and the service, however is bad. I would go to this place on a hot summer's evening and sit in the garden where you can appreciate the lovely location but don't expect good beer or service.

Sign outside suggests under new management. Popped in for lunch during a walk and found a friendly welcome and pleasant atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and quality good.

Stopped here yesterday evening (thursday). Beautifully authentic olde style character pub complete with black beams and thick carpetting. Very small bar area, but lovely none the less. Friendly young Kiwi couple managing the bar & kitchen. Bar was empty when we arrived around 6.30pm , we asked for a menu , the landlord looked out of the kitchen and scowled...hmmm, oh well no matter, still couldn't spoil a lovely atmospheric lounge bar. Menu however was a little on the pricy side, with ham egg & chips around the 9 mark. We settled for a brie & ham sandwich instead at around 5. Homemade ham no plastic supermarket rubbish, and brie kept at room temp, meant that the toasted sandwich was very tasty, albeit quite a small portion for the money! We sat in the garden, bunch of locals at the next table ignored us, so not too friendly, and the garden area could do with a good tidy up and the flowers watered to bring a little life back.
Macs pub sadly, but with some great guest ales, make this pub overall a lovely little hideaway!

This place is run by Steve Nye who used to be the landlord of the Lytton Arms, the other tolerable pub near Knebworth. Whereas the Lytton has definitely gone downhill since Steve left, this one has benefitted from his experience of running a pub.
The food is reasonable value with huge portions. You can eat in the bar on the restaurant; I always go for the former, but I think the menu is the same. The beer is McMullens, but at least kept well. There is a big garden, open fires, dogs welcome, no music, free papers, grumpy old men complaining about how things have gone to the dogs (no, not those dogs), low beams, tacky furniture, draughty windows, unreliable heating, not everything on the menu will be available on any given day.
What more could you want?

Went in recently and it has been taken over since August . Place has been redecorated and still holds it's charm . 4 real ales on and good selection of food including fresh norfolk mussells

Have heard that someone new is taking over at beginning of August

Amazing pub in the middle of no where. The pub is can be found by several different country lanes which are most single lanes so be careful. It is set in a lovely location surrounded by fields. It has a reasonable size car park complete with horses in the garden. There is outside seating in the front garden or also round the side on a paved area.
Inside it is smallish but old style pub. There is a huge tv on the wall but it didn't seem to intrusive or damage the character of the pub. It has two parts to the pbu, a restaurant side and a pub side.
The staff are very friendly, food and drink is cheaper than most which was very supprising when we saw the food. I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich and extra cheesey garlic bread and for the price though it would not be up to much. When we got it, it was huge, great big thick bread, a dresses salad and whole bag of crisps on the plate. The garlic bread had a salad too and came as 4 half sticks of bagget. Food is great vbalue for money. The beer is McMullens AK and Country Best. I ordered a pint of coke and got about 1.5 pints as she gave me a bit more for the money, how nice :)
Can't recommended it enough. This is definately my favoured new pub of the year so far.
