Ace of Spades, Tiptonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This is a diamond of a pub, great entertainment, food and smiling staff! What more could one ask for! I found the posters on the walls very interesting to look at, the DJ will play songs upon request. I would advice everyone to check this place out!.

Overall this is a good pub, apart from the following complaints I have;
•when I rang to enquire about the size of the beer garden I was told in imperial measurements, not metric. • A distinct lack of charitable collections • The gable end needs re-pointing • The ice in my drink melted too quickly. • The Website shows the pub on a warm sunny day, when I got there it was raining. • The bar appeared to be Mahogony, upon closer inspection it was clearly rose wood. • I heard the landlady say that she would love to shoot a panda in the face and feast on the blood of her prey. • The beer mats aren't edible. • the name of the pub is misleading, when I ordered a jacket potato it was terrible, and certainly not "the ace of spuds." • There are rumours of a hideous troll living under the bridge and entering the pub at night. Other than that is a great place and I'll be there this saturday drinking and playing darts

Great pub, great music. Friendly, clean and a good beer garden by the canal. Dont get some of the reviews here! Kids are always welcome! The D.J. will play anything you ask for and if he doesnt have it, he will get it for your next visit!! The Landlady (not The Troll as remarked above!) is the D.J.'s other half and a lovely, chatty and fun lady. Cant get enough of the place. If you're not into rock and blues then this probably isnt the place for you. If you are then get down there as soon as you can.

at last! a rock bar! great place, good music, dj is friendly,lads behind the bar always smiling, until 8.30 when the troll (i think its the dj's mom) comes from under the bridge and kills the atmosphere, anybody would think we were in her living room. warning! children definately not welcome (she eats them). the rating applies to the pub only (not poison ivy).

The ace of spade's (barge and barrell) is a great pub, its tiptons little secret. very clean, very nicely decorated, the punters tend to be middle aged rockers, with some young metalheads in there in the evening, one or two bikers now and then. the music in there is mostly 70's 80's rock. they do play metal if you ask for it. although the dj does'nt like heavy music, he is a sound bloke altough as for him saying the comment about grunge; "i aint playing that crap" was most likely light heartedly.
|
Be warned. If you are into anything other than Spandex Rock you're not made to feel very welcome. I myself like a various mix from AC/DC to some old grunge stuff. I asked for some grunge and was told "I aint playing that crap," not the welcome I expected.

Formerly the Barge and Barrel, this is Tipton's only Rock and Blues pub and has a wonderful atmosphere, comfortable, clean, great music, good beer and very friendly staff/ owners. They have regular events and small bands and their punch is tasty but lethal. Biker friendly and highly recommended!
