Only Directors and Atlantic to choose from to accompany my lunch but, fortunately, there was a beer festival in the garden adjoining the pub.
I thought if I could buy a couple of pints straight from the barrel and bring them back to the pub - satisfaction guaranteed.
The festival organiser wanted £6 for two glasses and £6 for two pints. This didn't satisfy me, so I settled for the two beers in the pub for £7.20

The two ales this time were: Wadsworth Horizon and Jail Ale.

Disappointed with choice of beer, Doom Bar and Otter Ale.
Steaks are now 9.

Not sure if it is different management, I thought it was the same people as last year.
Food is still good and value for money.
Nice to see different beers on offer than St Austells and the awful Sharps Doom Bar. A couple of Summerskill's; Hopscotch and Blondie went down well.

We went to this pub a couple of months ago and ordered steak(medium cooked) and chips, onion rings, salad and peas. We were very impressed with the amount of food on the plates and the steak was large and cooked to our liking. However when we ordered the same meal on 25/04/11 we asked for the steak to be cooked medium. What we got was a bit of a shock, the steak wasnt even rare, it was very dark red and dripping blood, not really edible at all, no onion rings or peas and the plates were a bit smaller too. The pub is under different management now to what it was a few months ago though.

A few miles just outside Liskeard, in a lovely little village which has been bequieted by the new bypass.
My wife and I had a lovely stay in holiday cottages nearby and gladly punctuated our days out with visits to this lovely pub throughout the weekend.
Very attentive and helpful staff and management gave us directions and gave us pointers to various touristy locations nearby.
The food was homemade to order, delicious and very reasonably priced.
Our dog who goes everywhere with us was welcomed and even given a water bowl - which after our long walk he very much appreciated!!
We had a lovely Sunday lunch before we left - a choice of beef or pork with magnificent roast potatoes. Piping hot and only 4.95!!
We thanked the landlady before we left with a promise to return some time in the Autumn!

Check again chriseliza, a couple had their dog with them at the table. I don't want to put anyone off this place because of the dog issue. If they are still and well behaved I don't mind.
Anyway, as for the review. That day's special's board offered two steaks for 10. Well worth having as they came with all the trimmings.
A good selection of beers including, Sharp's Cornish Coaster and Otter ale.
Probably the best value for money in the area. Check out their web site for menu/prices.

Not dog friendly at all. I rang beforehand to check that I could bring my dog into the pub but as I walked in the front door a woman said "no animals" and I left. It's a shame because a by-pass must have reduced their trade and I was going along to show local support. I won't bother again.

A few miles west of Liskeard on the A38, it is a worthwhile place to stop for a meal or drink.
A friendly welcome comes from ethusiastic management and staff.Child and dog friendly too, (dogs not at food tables, during food serving periods).
Adequate parking, outside seating and the the usual pub games are inside.
