Seemingly now shut. On the last visit just before its closure it was a disaster zone. Dart boards in disrepair, only Stella and Kronenbourg on tap and the ever-changing eastern European barmaids was still in evidence. Christmas Tree in the door tilted at 20 degrees in a permanent sighing position. Who knows what'll open in its place but the lack of ambient light will never help...cheerio Mail Coach, it was fun for a bit when you actually looked vaguely untatty.

An avid darts player, I have decided to comment of all the Pubs I have played in recently.
Nice, but sadly underground venue.
The Boards are in poor condition and chalk scarce.
The beer is very well priced for the area, and of an adequate standard. Generally well presented, clean and well kept. The staff could be a little more enthusiastic though.
All in all, a mid-range drink, but a poor darts venue. Seems OK if you wish to hide from the Sun! I fear a place that has had its day.

I can concur with the previous reviewer's comment about it being a "funny old boozer". I worked within a generous stone's throw of the pub for 2 years without even knowing of its existence. It's the only pub I've even been in that has 3 (yes, count them, 3) dart boards - all functional too and not blocked by a row of tables as is the norm. Hats off, the Mail Coach.
It serves pints of bitter and lager, it has ghastly wallpaper and flooring and does standard functional pub food. If you want somewhere a bit more upmarket and prissy then stay well clear - but I would imagine that the regulars (including myself) probably won't miss you.

Funny old boozer. Downstairs pub so lots of people miss it. Bar staff are always friendly and if you are a regular, there is usually a good bit of good natured banter flying around from the guys who always stand at the same sections of the bar. If you go in, make sure you ask what the soup of the day is...
The staffing numbers are consistent. Always the same whether there are 3 customers or 333. Friday lunchtime? Order a bottle of wine and sit back and watch the chaos.

what has everyone got against suits...do they make the beer taste different? ...get over your problem with the suited and booted and drink more beer ...you wont notice them then .... or go to an area without suits ..I.E not the city !!!!

Not a bad place and a decent pint of Guinness with friendly staff. We had food and it was excellent, very big plate fulls. Not too many suits venture in here so it's quite relaxed and you can actually hear yourself speak without having to shout over the top of someone bragging about their stocks and shares!

Not sure why i like this place. Its ok but doesn't seem to have a lot going for it. No frills, beer's ok, not great, decent food, not outstanding, etc.
However when compared with the dross in the surrounding areas, its a beacon of calm. You can virtually always get a seat, and hardly anyone goes in there. If you're after a refuge from the a-holes all around the square mile braying about their bonuses and just want a quiet, undisturbed pint or two, go here.
