Almost instantly regretted coming into this place before I had even ordered. Straight from the off I received a dirty look off a guy at the bar. Not being put off I went to the bar to be met by an uninterested barmaid. Went for the Cumberland by Jennings, it was 3.20 and wasn't a bad pint to be fair. It seemed okay when I settled down a bit but a the atmosphere was a bit weird I thought. Nothing much that makes this place stand out to me, don't think I would ever come back.

Back here for the first time in 5 years. The barmaid was very knowledgeable about her beers and we tried a new local brewery's beer in a bottle. Landlord and Cumberland Ale were the two ales. It was very quiet on our Sunday afternoon visit. Upgrading my rating slightly.

This pub is without a dought a proper pub that serves lovely food at lunchtime, and has the best staff and management that you could find anywhere in the uk, i visited it yesterday and will return next time i visit Liverpool

Not the pub it once was. Still found it reasonable though - the Landlord was drinkable though am not sure what 'sty'e' the upper room is supposed to be.

There's plenty of better pubs around this area than this one. There was only one customer in on a Sunday afternoon until we walked in. The two real ales - Landlord and London Pride were uninspiring.

Went in here a back in January when the Ark Royal was down at the Pier Head. Timothy Taylor Landlord was off so had a pint of Tetleys. OK for 2 a pint. Wouldn't want to pay anymore because the pub is nothing to write home about. I should have carried on walking and gone to the Lion Tavern!

I agree with oldboots, this pub has declined in recent years. Perhaps because so many of the local offices have shut and so the pub is no longer as busy.

We need pubs like this just to show us how good the good ones are. This was once a really good pub with well kept Landlord and the odd guest, but following the quite well done renovation it started to slide. It looks a bit like a well heeled dentist's waiting room especially in the upper room, you might enjoy a visit the dentist a more. The beer quality is usually poor, the staff busy with their texting and the TV intrusive.

An old stayer beetween the new highrisers (neighbourhood) Good to find for a thisty tourist.

Compact, clean & tidy with 2 flatscreen TV's downstairs. Small bar with a fairly limited choice. The food looked good & seemed popular at the time of day we went in.

This pub is not bad and the beer is okay.

Age-old real old timer pub on the walk between Pier Head and Moorfields station.
Great atmosphere, good ale and steeped in tradition.
