My first watering hole back in the 60's when it was a real village pub.
I went back there about three years ago for the first time while visiting Ockendon, and was very disappointed. Very disinterested staff behind the bar and generally pretty bland.

Went past the pub on 14th of Feb it is closed and boarded up.

A pub in decline and sad to see. No ales, bright lights and bland decor, The few nights that generate any interest seem to end up with a fight.
Used to be good for football but that has also fallen by the wayside.

I have met the new owner yesterday 16th June he is looking to improve the entertainment and he is not happy to find out that the recent singers are ex Mike Reid agency.
Have had a few visits and always had a good time.

What a disappointment! I use to drink in this pub over 40 years ago and it now desperately needs refurbishing � I noticed two broken windows on my visit. Gone is the beer garden at the rear. The only outside seating is now at the front of the pub by the roadside. They have stopped serving food and there is no real ale, so I will not be going back.

NEW MANAGER WHAT A TOP BLOKE! HIS REALLY DONE ALL OF US LOCALS PROUD!!! AND ITS LOVELY TO SEE NEW FACES COMING IN, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A DRINKER WHY NOT COME IN AND HAVE A GREAT EVENING WITH THE LIVE ENTERTAINMENT EVERY WEEKEND. ITS WONDERFULL

under new management since jan 07, brilliant pub what a turn around, great lanlord very welcoming, its such a warm friendly pub,his roast dinners are superb,
live entertainment every weekend, what more can i say. 10/10 *****

used to be used by proper faces , still see a few of them around but hey i personally prefer my face just how it is so i avoid

this pub is brill is under new management since june and she is running a great pub wicked DJ every week and karaoke every month. she does a good roast on sunday and pie and mash on a sunday . also live music every sat and quiz on a thursday real cool pub to be honest
