Really nice modern design. Well kept Celebration beer. It really is a suits pub but perfectly pleasent. Big drawback is the service which was really slow wqhen we were there.

I like this place too! It's cool and a bit different really...but too be honest..I like most places. I disagree about the prices, most places cost that much or more where I go!
|
I don't know what all the fuss is about! this pub is fine, it might not be stainless steel and whatever but it's got a sweet atmosphere, it's just a good place to chill at, (maybe I'm bias as I won on the fruit machines) but still, a nice place to go by all means.

It's not often I see an average mark on BITE which strikes me as suspicious, but 6.9 seems well above what this place merits. As others have said, the decor of the place is ropey to say the least, and it can indeed get very crowded. Ale-wise there is GK IPA, but that's about it. In my experience, and contrary to the anonymous reviewer below, the beer is generally not well-kept. I would agree, though, that the service is usually pretty friendly and quick, and will add an extra mark to my score on that basis. But this is not a 6.9 venue.

Well-run pub - excellent, absolutely lovely Thai food.
Decent range of beers, but far too bloody expensive - 3.40 for a pint of Kronenburg is taking the raving P - this isn't the west end !
Get the beer prices right and this is a top place.
Poker on Monday nights I've noticed as well.

I like this bar, despite the dodgey decor!! The food there is always good and reasonably priced. They serve a wide range of beer and the manager is friendly. On the downside, it can get very crowded and noisy

I would like to congratulate Sputnitski on his informative reviews. Stonch certainly is dick.
|
I would like to report sputnikski for his appalling use of English and his bad taste in public houses.

I like to drinkon here on Thursday when they ahve the entertanment. It is a number one London drinking place and the beer is very well kept. ten ot of ten

Not bad, not great, beer ok, food quite good.

Went there one evening this week with a date, bar was good, date wasnt, was quite empty, the decor is a bit tacky ie leopard skin, zebra and tiger skin but I like it. Reasonably priced, would recommend,I say 7.5/10

i think it's a great place to meet up and let the proverbial down. beer ok food is good and service sh@t hot. i like it
|
met the moorgate boys in there. nice crowd and good music. got smashed on cristal. wallet sore this morning but a wicked bar!
|
Friendly management and very good at accommodating big groups for leaving dos etc...but equally if you are looking for a quick pint after work this does the job quite nicely.
Decor's a bit gaudy as discussed but I can't say it bothers me.
|
blinding bar, great food, bang on staff shame about the design but hey can't be perfect. all in all a bright spark in the gloom of white collarville.

"Cutting edge of design"?!?
Maybe Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen does drink here. Or the criminally insane.
|
Top venue. Excellent for champions league and England games. I counted at least 6 plasmas and food was amazing.

Friendly staff, cutting edge of design. Well worth a visit!

i agree that it is not the best looking re-fit i've seen but i think its not to bad. the manager is a nice talkative type. beer was ok, i think that sometime people that wear collar & tie all day (as do i) should loosen that tie or god forbid take it off and remember work has finished for the day the stick can be removed from one's arse! all in all i would return i think the team and the manager win it for me.

Yup- this place is an abomination. I would say that I suspect it's an elaborate practical joke, but I believe another subscriber to this site has copywrited that one (sorry tanderson7!).
Imagine spiking Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen with copious amounts of ketamine and letting him loose with an assortment of his usual tat.... and you come close.
Some cracking reviews of this place under the old pub's incarnation so I've posted them below for posterity! ------------------------------------------------------ It's an Alice in Wonderland themed pub. 'An eclectic mix of styles', the owners were probably told. Reality is a total disaster, as brilliantly reviewed by kmcs.
Just a taste of 'the horror' - Bet Lynch underwear themed sofas, multi-coloured wooden flooring - striped, jet black toilets a la Secret Diary of Adrian Mole's bedroom, Twilight Zone metal lamps, standard wooden tables and pull-down blinds, plasma screens floating everywhere and a black and white mosaic roof where I thought I saw the Cheshire cat peeking down at me.
The real cats who got the cream though must've been the design team, pissing themselves all the way to the bank - or the cocaine salesman.
conniwot - 17 Aug 2006 10:56 --------------------------------------------------- Yes,..yes it has reopened,..and its one of the most ludicrous refits ever,....fcking brilliantly cack. You ever see that episode of changing rooms where the women opens her eyes and goes ballistic,..fcking wicked?
"Ok Piers,..now just to recap,..you gave us 200K of your hard earned trust-fund money to take over this lease and create for you, from what was a shithole, a trendy London bar, based in London's Blackfriars,...well,..you said you'd give us a free reign,...and i think you'll be pleasantly surprised with what we've done! Ok,..no peeking,...ready,........Ta da.............!"
"Tabatha,..fire up the scooter,..we're outa here,........Oh,...the humanity!"

A rotten pint of Courage Best and seat covers that look like they've been stolen off Marlene's wardrobe by Boycie. Crap, go to the cockpit 50 yards up the side road instead.
|
Refurbished and renamed (previously the Goose at the Castle). Seats are box like things with zebra patterns and the real ale choice of Courage Best or London Pride. I was there for a leaving do on Wednesday night but the place never realy filled up and the beer was too cold
