As mentioned in the review below from March 2015 this is now called the Goose and is part of the Goose chain which have never been my favourite type of pub as they don’t normally have much ale choice and the ales they do have are from my experience not that well kept.
Large open plan and quite soulless to be honest, around a dozen punters in who were spread around with a few couples eating the cheap food available, the plates I saw go past me all looked average, that’s why the food is cheap!
4 hand pumps with 3 ales available which were Sharps Doombar, Courage Best and Tetley's Christmas Cracker which was my choice and was a decent seasonal offering with an abv of 4.3%.
Televisions on and music playing above the tv’s. We only came in for a quick beer and that’s all I think this place is good for.

Doom Bar and Courage beers are available.
gay friendly bar.

I have only just realised this place changed its name to The Goose. So we went to the so called quiz night last week with no hope of it actually being decent.....but saying that we arrived 15mins before the start time and was asked if we wanted to do the quiz by a very enthusiastic member of staff. With the quiz sheet in hand a voice over the speakers which was quite loud told us about the quiz and what i can say as a easy set of rules to follow. Anyways the quiz started 15 mins later. Now half way through they did a game of Musical Bingo which we was reluctant to play as it sounded stupid, but they played another game later on during the quiz which we joined in. I will have to say it was nice to see the Quiz Master actually moving around the tables interacting with the people playing the quiz. A nice night had by all will probably go back tonight to see if it was a fluke but if not ill bring some mates in the future. Drinks wise usual stuff on the pumps im more into my bottled beers which there was a pretty good selection, soft drinks were a bit flat might need to be looked at but all in all will probably be back as long as it keeps up my expectations.

Look, if you have a strong stomach, at the facebook page for this pub and you will find the winners of the quiz for the last four weeks; look again, Sherlock, and you will find the computer that this flab four keep cribbing their answers from. How clever, how smart, how much pleasure they must derive from winning by cheating ! Equally nauseating is the sight of vast swathes of their pale , surplus and uninteresting skin spewing out of their catalogue clothes as they clamber over the furniture to bag their ill-gotten prize. I suppose if you look like the cast of "Shaun of the Dead" if they let themselves go and behave like aspirants to get on a Jeremy Kyle show, then the Goose Fat Club regulars have truly found their niche. Pity, because this is not a bad pub, the prices and ranges of ales are all right, it is just Team 5,6,7,8 ( representing their mental ages, intelligence quotients or chins) that leaves such a nasty stench

Courage, Morland Original and Charles Wells Bombardier were available. Not the most inspiring beer choice in the world. And I'd rather have a pint without someone with a short skirt and multiple tattoo's trying to sell me a bikini. What type of cross dresser do they take me for ??

Courage, Morland Original and Bombardier. Not the most inspiring beer choice in the world. And I'd rather have a pint without someone with atattoo trying to sell me a fake Rolex.

Bland Wetherspoons type family pub during the day - looks like it's a different animal during the evening. Limited choice of beers - three casks: Courage, Morland Original and Bombardier. Wetherspoons type food menu, including children's menu with crayons. OK, but not a place I'd recommend.

Plenty of orange-faced, yo-yo knickered "ladies" displaying their citrus flesh and their drug-addled, hyper-aggressive, tattoed boyfriends looking to be offended. They are the same crowd who in their just-gone youth would sit outside McDonald's and shout "You lookin' at me?" to those that dare pay their council tax from privately procured funds (in an unconscious tribute to Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver" no doubt).
Yes, a dive.

where do i start with the pembroke, its a nice pub all in all with a few exceptions these including, one of the managers who i have seen on many occasions drinking on duty and some of the seats are vial stained with god knows what.

Can't speak highly enough about the pub. Fantastic. Always a good place to go before hitting bar24, a must see for all pub goers up and down the country. Service isn't always the best but this shouldn't deter anyone. Trouble in there occasionally but I love that type of thing.

Very well run pub. Can kick off at the weekend but usually dealt with quickly. Good staff and reasonable prices

Not good. Staff need to be trained in the art of customer care. You do not shout "Oi, over here" to customers because you are too lazy to make the walk to the end of the bar, you go to them.

Having been going to this pub for several months now it has become apparent that things are not what they used to be. My wife and i eat at the Pembrooke once a week as the food is reasonably priced and usually nice, however last week we had our usual meals in here and was dissappointed with it. The portions had become a lot smaller and the chicken was nothing like what i was used to. my wife was also unhappy with her meal.We thought it was a one off however after revisiting last nite we have decided that it wasnt just a single occurance. i dont know whether the chef has changed or the suppliers but it has definately changed for the worse and not the better. I used to regularly recommend this pub to friends and family but would not do so now.I would suggest they get things back to how they was and fast before even more people realise that things arent what they were....

A recent addition to Gravesend high street, The Pembroke, like The Tollgate in Dartford, is a part of the Smith and Jones chain. I paid a visit during the afternoon and found it to be pleasant enough. Im under the impression that all these pubs have a very similar feel and The Pembroke is almost identical to its Dartford equivalent, only cleaner. I havent been here in the evening, but can only presume the music volume goes up and the place gets packed with the local youngsters. If thats not your scene, dont fear, as its quite okay in the afternoon.
