Pleasantly surprised when I came to this pub as I was new to the area and didn't know what to expect from my surroundings. As soon as stepped foot through the doors I had the feeling this little gem of a pub would quickly become my regular. The staff were extremely accommodating and the beer was as good as the staff which you can't complain about. Excellent atmosphere for the duration of the night and I noticed they also have a bed & breakfast attached to the pub which could come in very helpful if friends and family came to visit. Overall I am extremely pleased with this pub and will not be moving on to find a new local any time soon. Spot on.

Thought I'd try the pub because I had noticed it had been recently refurbed and is now under new management.
I was pleasently surprised as the pub has completely changed around.
And at �2.70 a pint of bomberdier how could you go wrong???

The Ship has recently been taken over and has undergone a total refurbishment both inside and out. The Pub is now run by an experienced and friendly Landlord who clearly knows how to run a pub and keep a good pint, even the real ale (Bombardier) is well kept. There are two big TV screens with Sky TV and ESPN for football fans. A good atmosphere and everything you'd look for in a local pub.

It seems that it has now re-opened. They only had Pride on. The barmaid was having great difficulty filling the glass until I spotted the sparkler and eventually convinced her that it could be removed. I don�t think that she realised at first what I was talking about � I once asked a barmaid �is that a sparkler?� whereupon she pointed to the diamond stud in her navel and said �yes, do you like it?� You do have to be careful sometimes. Anyway, why do pubs use these things? They just make life more difficult for their staff, and how many drinkers on the Isle of Dogs want an exaggerated head on their beer when the ale in question is one that is not brewed to be dispensed through a sparkler? The Pride didn�t taste up to much either. I can�t think of anything good to say about this pub, other than the fact that it was there, and open, when it started raining as I was passing.

worth making the 'trek' down away from upper street... not as big as I thought it would be, but great for watching sport - bar staff were incredibly friendly and the food/drink was very reasonably priced (didn't eat but looked good and most expensive bottle of white wine �11!). Thoroughly recommend (but not during an Arsenal game if you are supporting the other team!!)

Old dockers pub desperately trying to drag itself into the 21st century. Friendly landlord, but desperately needs a makeover. Rumour has it new landlord will refurbish it, hopefully making a big difference. We had good Guiness there, and last time on a Friday evening there was a brilliant rock band. Worth trying.
