Recently visited. The new tenants have done so well in this pub - their first pub - and they are getting the recognition they deserve. Not open Mondays.

The best pub in DT6? I think so. Classic thatched village inn. Great bar staff and the food is to die for. Just love the chef. Soooo sexy.

Great thatched local in the centre of a typical Dorset village. Friendly and welcoming. Had a pint of Dorset Gold (a gold bitter) - in excellent form. Pub stocks IPA and Copper Ale as well. Food menu impressive although we were limited for time so couldn't sample the fare. Chef comes from the pub in Seatown so you can be sure it will not disappoint!

My first visit back for acouple of years, and with a new owner since then. Always a favourite pub of minee when in the area and the new ownder still provide a very warm welcome.

Tried a Palmers Best and a Copper, both in excellent condition, a shame no 200 on though.

The foods was very good and reasonably priced, however the chef was unable to deal with some of the orders for fried items, e.g. steaks, duck breast, gammon due to the size of the hob. However, don't let that put you off, this is a lovely pub in a lovely part of the world, enjoy it!

We stayed in Loders recently, the pub was taken over in May 2009. It's Palmer, the beer was very well kept, although I'm not a big fan of Palmers I will concede that it was good.
Pub is spotloess, nicely decorated and very focused on food. It was popular, especially on Friday and Sunday when we ate there.
Service was excellent, friendly and efficient, I was impressed. Our dog was welcomed with biscuits.
Food home cooked and excellent, although (like many pubs in the area) a little expensive.
Would recommend it.

Very friendly, the owners and locals alike didn't mind the fact that my two year old wanted to chat to the Basil the Parrot in the bar. The Palmers beer was pretty well kept, but I'll remember it for the fantastic food. I had Scallops in a pernod and fennel seed sauce and it was truly wonderful, they also were happy for my son to have a small portion of pasta which was on the main menu and charged him half price. The only critism I have is that we couldn't use the beer garden because the Pubs' Rotweiller kept jumping on my little boy. I'm a dog lover but he should have been inside on a barmy summers evening with children around.

Great pub in a superb West Dorset Village! This Virginia creeper clad pub has everything, good ales, fine food, friendly staff and an attention seeking parrot, which i believe was called Basil! The palmers beer was good although the Palmers 200 was a little on the off side, but as soon as we informed the staff they changed the barrel, the 200 was then in good condition, one of the best stronger ales on the market in my mind, the food was superb and the service fantastic, thanks must go to Jane and Clive Legg for running a good establishment!
