pleasant friendly little bar where I was offered the local evening paper to read with my pint of Eden Mill red. Bogs are a bit of a trek up two steep flights though, There is also other rooms upstairs.

Tiny simple pub with a restaurant upstairs and serving Strathbaan Head East from the narrow bar. On a quite lunchtime, a pleasing place to relax and chat with the locals

They didn't have their house beer on sale and indeed didn't have any Inveralmond real ale available when we went. However, the guest beer - from Yorkshire - was fine and the pub is a smashing wee place at the bottom of South Street near the river. Recommended. It can get very crowded and if it is then you simply share a table with the locals.

This is such a great place - usually four ales on offer though this can be as low as one if you pick the wrong time. Always a friendly greeting and the staff are exceptional: a 'must visit' if you are in town.

This pub is remarkably small. There are just 5 tables in the single room. Unfortunately the locals crowd around the bar, making access extremely difficult. This is despite all the tables being unoccupied. The ale selection was disappointing with over Caledonian 80' and Deuchars IPA on offer and two spare handpulls. The variety of old pumpclips on display indicates that this pub has seen better days. Or perhaps our rainy sunny day was simply an off day. Service was friendly.

A very small local featuring a restaurant upstairs;this offered 4 real ales of which some were from small micros. The pint of Loch Levan "Cock Robin" (2.80) was great tasting and the service was fast and friendly, 7/10

Small, plain pub with too many people sitting at the bar and blocking access. The cask beers (which were good) are the only real attraction.

I think the timing of my visit to this pub was a little unfortunate as I'm sure I didn't get to see this pub at its best. I only had an hour to kill in Perth, so everything was a little rushed by the time I had walked from the railway station.
The pub was busy on the Friday afternoon I visited, and it appeared to me that many of the ales were being changed in preparation for the evening and the weekend in general. I could only get a pint of Hopback Summer Lightning, which was excellent in every way, however I can get this regularly where I live, so was slightly disappointed not to get the chance to sample some local beer. However I accept that for many of the locals this English ale would make a good guest beer.
I can only echo the comments from other users about the friendly welcome recieved from both staff and locals. I will definitely make a point of returning to this pub when next in Perth.

During my recent visit to Perth I had the pleasure of using the Greyfriars on two consecutive days, quite a gem of a 'wee' pub! I found the landlady very warm and welcoming, she struck up a conversation with me strait away, as did several locals. The beer was on tip-top form too, I'll definitely return next time I'm in Scotland.

I am very fond of this lovely, little pub. It's main fault is that it is too small and often crowded at peak periods. The regulars are usually friendly, if somewhat loud and opinionated! There is one of the best selection of ales in the fair city and the food is supposed to be good too. I would rate this as a must to visit when you are in Perth

I was working in Perth for a week last year, and this was the best pub in the city. Four ales are available at any one time, made up of three guests and the ubiquitous Deuchars IPA. All were very well kept. The landlord is a gem: on my second visit, a couple of days after the first, he proudly offered me his two new guest beers... sadly, they were from Smiles (Bristol) and Bath Ales, both beers freely available in my local area. He was so disappointed with this that we spent a very pleasant half hour going through his distributor's list, picking some more interesting ones for the future.
Oh, and this was before the smoking ban, so some kindly old sole showed be the correct way to smoke a pipe. Mind you, I've not done it since :-)
