Enigma Wine Bar, Rochesterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I am now a frequent visitor to Enigma it is now under new management and has changed abit. they have Doombar as the ale and that's always excellent and have the biggest selection of spirits around. the cocktails are very well made unless your in London the best your going to get . the music on a saturday is quite lively and can get quite busy. overall i would say this is my favourite drinking spot if you are ever in Rochester and fancy a decent drink i would say give it ago

Went in there early this year 2009, the guys running the place seem cool, music was ok, not bad really!!!

Went in here last Saturday early evening[7.15] A bottle of house white was 16 pounds and was very underwhelming ,the barman was distinctly off hand, we were annoyed that we did not walk out immediately, as we should have done ,definitely will not be going back this place has hit rock bottom ,imo.

This pub is probably the most well presented in the area.
It is strange that it is empty most of the time (Wetherspoons across the road is probably a major factor in this) because the staff are friendly and welcoming. The problem I feel is that it still feels like a converted house (which it is) and the downstairs (which you occupy) is divided into small rooms and intimate drinking areas. Without this, it would almost certainly build upon the good atmosphere.
This makes it a lot less sociable unless you are visiting with about 20 friends - a shame. The other problem is that the music is generally of low quality inside - very heavily focused on obscure dance music where the DJ clearly plays his record collection - I certainly haven't been when they are playing 70's and 80's etc. as stated on here.
Overall, it could potentially be one of the best pubs in the area with a little thought but it is certainly worth checking out.

It seemed like a posh, hoity-toity type of place to go. I went in anyway, just to give it a go. Brilliant place! Well worth the visit, had a great time, the barstaff were all friendly and there was a great party atmosphere. The beer garden was alright too, with awnings covering some tables for you to smoke at if you smoke! Not sure what this place is like away from a Friday/Saturday night... but if you're out on a Friday or Saturday night, definitely give this place a go!

I am regular customer at Enigma Wine bar and have been for approximately a year now. This new venue on the high street has been a breath of fresh air as it is a well presented building with friendly staff and both a calm and fun atmosphere. During the day this bar is quiet and tranquil and offers a pleasant environment to sit back or to have meetings. During the evening is the same with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights which are busy with DJ entertainment playing 70's and 80,s disco and all forms of house music. The over 21's policy is only on Friday and Saturday nights which is strictly enforced by the bars door staff. Whilst writing this review I make comment to the last posting from "dogbolter" on the 24th Jan 2008 which is incorrect and Enigma Wine Bar does not entertain those down market" events at all and never have done to my knowledge. I recommend this venue for anybody as I have always had a great time there.

Havnet been in for some time ,I pass it on Sunday mornings on my way to the Eagle,it appears to have gone a bit down market ,with stippers and Karaoke, shame really.

been in a few times both daytime and eve, lovely place to visit, very friendly and helpfull staff during the day manager is very nice & accomodating. not so sure about eve staff not always helpful show lack of skills.drinks are pricey, lovely in the summer.but the wk end music is boring not enough variety.same old same old. have also noticed it,s clientele are rather young thought it had over 21,s policy.dont think much of them having strippers though has made it cheap & seedy
