Reasonably decent pub with 3 beers from Bowman and Itchen Valley. Food is OK but over-priced.

Was here with a couple of friends for drinks. Firstly, it was very expensive - �3 for a diet coke (I usually pay �2-�2.50 in other pubs around here). It was also quite busy, and there wasn't anywhere to sit in the bar. We went and sat down in the restaurant area, which was completely empty with it being 5 o'clock, only to be told we weren't allowed to sit there if we weren't eating.
This meant we had to sit outside - not particularly pleasant on an evening in late November! I do object to buying drinks, then not being allowed to consume them in the establishment.
Having said this, the atmosphere in the pub was good, and I would give it another chance if it was quieter.

I dont mind paying extra for good ingriedients that have been cooked by a decent chef, but when the food has clearly been cooked by someone who has been told "use all of the fish" resulting in my Plaice with crushed potatoes being undercooked and the fish of a portion size that was ridiculous, the i have to say i object, It wasn't as if they had the decency to slap a large portion of potatoes on the plate, these were equally small and rubbish, any idiot can cook new potatoes and then beat them relentlessly with a ladle, shocking, The cheese platter was very good but �8 for a cheese platter with one of the listed cheeses missing without a word of explanation is bad.
The beer was standard pub price and variety, I liked the table i had right next to the disabled toilet, which when used by all and sundry who can't be arsed to go upstairs to the regular toilets is a treat.. the sound of someone grunting and farting their breakfast away only brightened my outlook of the food.. Someones having a laugh here.. and it's not the punters, i suspect that the regular Sailing-set go here as it's THE place to go, but by God surely they have brains to see whats happening and that they're being ripped off?? ... No? your probably right..

Food is expensive but it's worth paying extra for good ingredients that have been cooked by a decent chef. Choice of beer is not extensive but the house wine is good. Gets busy and noisy in the sailing season - best time to come here is very early at lunchtime (or in the winter).

Surprising pricey considering the amount competition in the same street. Getmeonein isn't wrong about loud-mouthed boat people shouting at the tops of their voices after a couple of pints. Not a particularly great selection of ales (choice of three, only one of which is often any good). On the bright side the food is always nice, the staff reasonably friendly (albeit a bit slow) and the pub itself is terrific.

One of the better pubs in Hamble as a decent selection of ale and a good menu. Prices are reasonable given the location and proximity to some very expensive yachts. Half of the pub looked to be a restaurant and without a booking there are only a few tables available for the casual drinker. Mainly full of loud weekend sailors in Musto jackets who have spent all day shouting at each on a boat only to then continue to do so in the evening! Worth a visit if you are passing.

What a wonderful ale pub!! Great pint of Bowmans swift one, well kept beer, manager knows what he's talking about. Great to go for a good honest pint.

A decent pub, the beer is surprisingly reasonable in terms of quality and price. I'd have thought that with a captive clientelle of Howard's Way fans, the temptation to charge through the nose would have been overwhelming.
It can get busy, especially in the summer months, but they still manage to keep the service coming thick and fast. If you like yachts and things of that nature, moor up here and have a pint.

Absolutely gorgeous food and the people are really nice. Just made my xmas booking with them - can hardly wait for it!

Great pub, suprised to see a local ale, was told it was always changing. Great pint of Triple F Moondance and the best fish and chips in the area. Do not miss a trip to this gem of a pub 10/10

This is a really great waterside pub! Just had a massive makeover but kept it very original with open fires and stone floor.
The food is quality; from traditional Ploughman�s to gourmet seafood dishes-it's all yummy! Great place to sit outside as well! One of the best pubs around if you ask me!

We had a lovely meal, made from local produce. The range of wine available was excellent, along with the choices of rums.
The staff were very friendly.
