Second rate corporate GK house. No none GK beers, had the Ghastly Ghoul a 'seasonal' GK offering - was bland, tasteless ...GK = Garbage Kings

The King's Arms was the last remaining pub I hadn't previously visited in Bedford in the Good Beer Guide. It's a Greene King pub. But I was expecting better. Ales were all from the Greene King group with IPA & Old Speckled Hen accompanied by guests Old Golden Hen & Back of the Net. I was expecting one or two real ciders. But there were none. There are a number of rooms inside and a pleasant courtyard seating area leading to the car park at the rear. Disappointing overall though.

not the best quality or value Greene King served here, guest ale available

Decent enough beer and a reasonable enough atmosphere. The have a music quiz on a sunday night which seems quite popular.

Piejunkie - I'm talking about week-day lunchtimes. Thursdays seem to be the worst - with loud-mouthed thick-as-pigsh1t trainee hairdressers. However, the KA is by far the best pub in Bedford

Seems like a decent pub with a bit of character to me, so can't understand the low rating (currently 5.4) that doesn't equate with the reasonably good reviews given by others below. Reasonable pint of the seasonal Bonkers Conkers. One of the better pubs in Bedford, so worth a short walk southwards from the town centre and over the bridge.

Great pub with good beer, pleasant surroundings and excellent food. Only fly in the ointment, service becomes very slow during last hour.

How this pub has a user rating this low (currently 4.8) I don't know. It's one of the nicest environments to be in in the town centre, well, a short stroll over the town bridge anyway. The food is consistantly good and the staff very friendly. I have spent many fri/sat/sun. nights there and have never seen "300 students" just a good crowd of people having a good time. The clientele are mainly in their late twentys and upwards, this may explain the relaxed atmosphere. You could do a hell of alot worse than visitng this place, and probably have!

pleasant rambling pub - though it doesnt look like its a nice place to be on a fri/sat night - unless you want the ubiquitous DJ + crappy sound system that spreads like a nasty cold over our town centre pubs at the weekends
|
A good pub with reasonable food, very friendly staff and the Stella's always good. Sometimes gets busy with groups of 300 irritating students all sharing a glass of coke but still the best pub I've been to in Bedford.

agree with all above, however the garden is small but ok

Very smokey pub by the embankment, does serve food here between 12 and 3pm, but i would not recommend this pub at all
