Great friendly local pub, child friendly with a lovely little Farm Area out in the garden, my little ones loved the chickens. Normal bar menu you would expect, with good portions, we visited on a Sunday and had both menu food and carvery and both were great. Lovely to see smiley staff as well which is rare these days!

Poos joined this site today to rubbish this above average pub - after being barred. Its a sad vindictive world. Init.

CRAP!!

Stinks of pee, rubbish food, unclean and illegal Sky TV!!

Landlord has his own table of stuck up yuppies who cant put a foot wrong and totally rubbish customer service!!

Bar staff do their job and beware the drunk postman...horrible creature!!

Food.......a joke!

This is one of those pubs that you could take or leave, no lasting impression really. Service was alright, TV's were on with no sound. Dont think i would eat there, bit to 'weatherspoon' feel to it.

The new management have definitely improved this pub and it is much better than its rating of 3.5 . Much busier. Food alright, beer decent and a decent locals pub

Just moved into the area and have to say this pub is very friendly. The landlord Bobby really has turned the place around with live entertainment and a really good menu. Pool table and duke boxes with 3 large TV screens for sporting events one of which is 3D!! Nice big garden with children's swings and play area. A facebook site informs you of future events. All in all a good friendly pub :0)

It will certainly need some massive changes to make this place even resemble a decent pub ,good luck to the new owner ,the area is crying out for a proper pub. I will have a look soon and see if I can improve my rating 3/10.

Under new management as from today 14th jan 2012. We had a large gathering of old regulars and new faces. There are massive changes comming with food being served very soon. The new owner is very nice and is always willing to listen and socialise, all in all a really nice bloke. More news will follow on how it's getting on soon. Oh and by the way beer is in much better condition.

Totally agree with funguy. Bad beer poor service and a landlord who dosnt care about his customers and by the looks of the loss of staff over the past few month people arnt happy in there employment Eather. Stay away.

Bad service and bad beer - stay away

Completely agree with the comments about service, you wait even if you are the only one at the bar and agree it is normally the same person. EHO issues behind the bar and in the kitchen according to Hart Council, beer sold through dodgy non regulated lines and is generally very cold in there. I would not recommend to anyone, stay well clear.

First visit for a year, same old problem, stand at the bar to be served and you become invisible , when you reappear another three or four customers have appeared and the barstaff {usually only one} have no idea whos first or last. Its a family friendly pub, great for familys not always for others. The two ales on were Black Sheep bitter and Courage Directors i went for the latter which was in suprisingly good form given previous memories of beer quality, i did have to ask for it to be topped up though. Food looked ok beer was good but i wont hurry back as the service does my head in.

Been going the the wyvern for a while now and have found it a nice place for a drink, food has been exelent and very well priced and comes out promptly. There is a curry night every monday and wednesday and you get a free drink and also a grill night every friday and saturday and get a free bottle of wine. drinks are slightly cheeper than other sourrounding pubs. They have live sports on 3 screens and show all football games and have a quiz night every thursday. Locals a very friendly and welcome you, and i can say there are not many pub like that anymore. You must come and experiance this traditional english pup you will be most welcome.

Nice pub. OK atmosphere. Trouble is every time I go there you always have to wait ages to be served, whether they are busy or not, which after many years now, I find irritating! I haven't worked out why it is, but even though it's nearer to where I live, I prefer to go into Fleet to drink. Don't be put off though - nothing wrong with the drink, food or customers.

My review was removed. Maybe they don't like honesty. Please feel free to contact for details.

Nice pub, has 3 big screens for the footie and food is lovely (and very reasonable).

Nice pint and the locals don't bite!!

Good size pub and garden, reasonable food and a good evening out. Bit out of the way unless you live relatively local, it's defintely worth a visit if you're in the area.

A good standard of pub. Plenty of room, warm and friendly. Well furnished and carpeted. The beer isn't the best but it is pallatable.
I can't agree less with what John had to say. I think he must have been elsewhere. Not heard one RAF bore.

The Wyvern is a friendly pub, well kept and clean. It is now under new management with a brand spanking new menu, I advise you check it out.

Stopped drinking there when John and Michelle took over - he was obnoxious. Have been back since he left - had 6X and Abbott which were OK, but would like to see more choice and better beer

Apologies for the out of date information that I posted regarding this pub. Haven't drunk here in a long time. What is the point if you don't get on with the clientele? As for friends. Plenty but thanks for enquiring.
johnkn7 - 9 Jul 2003 17:52
Sorry - is "John" talking about the same pub??? The Wyvern I have visited has well kept carpet, slate & wooden floors, good food & beer and a nice beer garden. If the local community bore you so much John, you don't have to talk to them. How about talking to your friends? That's if you have any ....

Horrible dive. Linoleum floor. Crap beer. This is the haunt of RAF bores from the nearby married quarters recounting their mundane adventures in Germany and Belize. Avoid like the plague
