Boarded up and car park roped off - look like it's about to be knocked down. Surprised it managed to cling on so long.

Don't know if it's shut but every time we pass the car park is empty - that tells you something!

ok..so this pub is a mystery..no one goes there..well a couple maybe.....its left to fall into disrepair and is a prime site..my guess is its being run down for a reason.. the potential is there...knock the whole lot down!.. build a nice new one .. this pub isnt a pub.. and i agree with others comments on the landlords...is it owned by a brewery?..very odd..and totally awfull..worst pub in the area..and thats a compliment calling it a pub!..

Stated using this place about 10 years ago. Was good then, with good food and beer at a reasonable price. Over the years it has deteriorated, and now i would struggle to recommend it.

We've popped in a few times. Each time though the landlord and landlady was not that friendly.Maybe we caught them on an off night. They have a snooker and pool table in one bar which seems a bit odd.It needs a total makeover as each night we were in the place was dead - even weekends. If they can alter the whole style of the place then maybe the place will be busier. The surrounding area has so many potential customers.

Came across the pub due to buying a Carrie in Stanley Park, I took my Aunt and 4 year old little one for lunch one Saturday, I would say that the landlord and his wife were really nice and the food was of a very good pub grub standard, the locals made you feel welcome and were friendly, on another occasion my son came with me who is 19 he wanted to get out of the Carrie and go for a drink, I recommended that he went up to The Oak and Yaffle, he had enjoyed the pint and the locals had got talking to him and he felt that they were a real friendly bunch that had welcomed him inot their fold, if you want a pie and a pint or to watch a match this is a great place to go, down to earth, no thrills and spills what so ever just basic good local, what more do you want, well done I say.

This is my local, the regulars are lovely, the landlord is a stand-up comedian in his spare time! trouble over Xmas caused by idiots (which you can find anywhere). but generally a lovely pub & good crowd

When I'm in a smug and complacent mood, I like to look at comments posted about London pubs and convince myself that this sort of thing doesn't happen here. At some point reality must intrude of course and on Christmas Eve, the Landlord of the Oak and Yaffle was outside the pub trying to prevent some previously barred people from entering when he was stabbed in the face for his troubles. Believe that he required a number of stitches. I'm not saying this as a rant against this pub as it's some time since I drank in there and the regulars may be fine for all I know but bear the above in mind if you are thinking of drinking there.
