user reviews of the White Hart, Buckfastleigh

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Buckfastleigh is a lovely small town, with a handful of pubs. The White Hart appears to be one of the better ones. But it was quiet on our late Sunday afternoon visit and the solitary real ale was Hunter's Half Bore. But they did also have Winkleigh Sam's Medium cider, which I availed myself of. Gents toilets are outside at the rear.

Bit of a shame there was only one other customer and the beer choice was not great, just the one local but it was in good nick.

A pleasant little pub in a town with great character. It was nice to finally get into a cosy pub like this with the rain lashing down outside.
7/10

stayed overnight in buckfastleigh 21st sept and visited the globe and kings arms before the white hart. a choice of 2 real ales including dartmoor jail ale were available. liked this pub and after the 1st pint felt, relaxed enough to stay for a few more. found the landlady, barman and the locals that i met very friendly.

one of the rudest landladies i have ever met!! a bit like the great peggy mitchell in that i witnessed her "bar" 3 people for absolutely nothing.could not believe my eyes.found the globe, directly opposite far more friendly.will never use this pub if i am in buckfastliegh again

HAPPY AND COSY PUB! We moved to and lived in Buckfastleigh from Oct 08 to June 09. We are mature students from the West Midlands studying in Devon. The White Hart is now run by a lovely lady called Dawn (and her charming spaniel Buster). She is the most welcoming of hosts. Having felt very unwanted at the Globe Inn (roughly opposite) we have found the White Hart to be a cosy and welcoming place - ever excited to see us return- and we will! Warm atmosphere complemented by people of different ages and interests. We highly recommend this pub!

Nice little pub, landlord a bit arrogant and boring, his wife very nice though, worth visiting just for her.

Pub in the centre of this pleasant small town. One open plan bar area, which has been recently refurbished and is quite nice but nothing special, plus a small courtyard garden. Only one real ale on (Princeton Jail Ale) which was Ok but nothing special. Seems to be very quiet (even on a Saturday night)and the landlord did not seem to be very interested in anything, including his pub (could these two observations be linked???). A pub with potential but not worth visiting at the moment.
