A lovely building in a nice little village. Was dead in there and wasn't made to feel overly welcome. Had a pint of Harvey's Best which was nice enough, also had Thathcer's scrumpy available which I was told was very nice by the missus!

Visit regularly, pleasant welcoming ambience, excellent selection of real ales and extensive menu, never had a bad meal here, food always cooked to perfection and well presented.definitley recommend as traditional english country pub, fantastic roaring fire!

A pub we visit occasionally - pleasant ambience, beer OK, food - leaves a lot to be desired. Beef and Chives (stewing steak!) like rubber. and sent back. The Roast Lamb - undercooked. Three of our party having the traditional roast beef Sunday lunch were satisfied, and the vegetables were quite satisfactory. Will we go there to eat again ? Probably not.

Went there for their beer festival. great vibe on that night, mostly because of a kicking band, and meeting a lot of my friends that had come over from the nearby Yew Tree pub for the night. A realy good night had by all.....helped by far too much Biddendens!

I visited this pub with my chauffeur on Tuesday. The beer is fine as far as "Sheps" goes, and I wouldn't go so far as to say the food is great.
It is a nice pub, albeit non-smoking - indeed it prides itself on the fact, but you can travel two miles in either direction ( towards Sandwich or Walmer ) and find better with a better range of ale and a proper local pub ambience!
I cannot agree with "scragm" that this pub deserves 10/10. Anyone visting after having seen the score awarded by "scragm" will be sorely disappointed.
Before the smoking ban, I would have awarded 6 points, but now, only an average 5/10
