I was in the Hook area for a couple of days and visited a few restaurant/pubs. Be warned that you need a bundle of cash to afford to drink in the Hook area even though there isn't much too like about the area.
I pay 2.80 a pint for London Pride in Haselmere, I couldn't believe the 3.70 a pint it cost in the Lord Derby but I was warned the place was pricey. The food and ambience was mediocre and basic and the service slow even though the place was nearly empty. I won't be going back.

Visited the pub this tuesday evening, staff very friendly and large inviting menu, although the pub was busy we were well looked after and had pleasant service throughout. Food was excellent and very good value. My partner enjoyed his pint of IPA said it was a very fresh. A very enjoyable evening will definatly be back for a return visit.

I went for a lunch with 6 family members and the pub was reasonably busy but most people were eating their main course when we arrived. We all order, sat down and waited for about half an hour. I then went to chase the food up and was told because 3 of us had ordered the cottage pie it would take longer for the food to be served, it would have been nice to have been told us when ordering!! Got the food finally and found the mash on the cottage pie to have mustard in it and the meat be very salty. I approached the manager and was far from impressed how she handled this matter. She did however take one of the cottage pies of the bill but seemed removed from the situation. Ive eaten in the pub several times before, and was very disappointed with this visit . Due to the amount of good pubs serving good food around the area Ill be eating elsewhere for a while. Shame a smile and a sincere apology would have sorted out the problem.

Good food and good beer.

Yes, the food is good if rather pricey. Yes, the waiting staff are first class, smiling and attentive. The meals were served within 30 minutes although the pub was full of evening diners. However, if I am to pay 3.10 for a pint of Pendle Witch, I would actually like a reasonably full pint. After two attempts to top it up, it was still half an inch short with a lot of beer wasted. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.

We stopped for Sunday lunch on route. The pub was full and very busy. We received a pleasant welcome from the very competent young lady serving the bar. My London Pride was excellent. Our order was taken efficiently. We didn't have long to wait and our roast was one of the best. We enjoyed our meal in the garden because all the tables inside were full. Nice clean toilets. Glad we stopped. Highly recommended.

We have lived in the area for over 45 years and never been in this pub, food was recommended by a friend so we booked a table for four. Fantastic food, good service and good real ale. We would recommend this for value, service and menu choice.

My lunch companion chose this pub as somewhere accessible for us both. I had lunch which was well prepared and could have fed two. Service was good and staff friendly. It was easy to find and well worth the 25 mile drive. Would definitely go again to try some of the other interesting choices.

Thought this place was a bikers pub. How wrong can one be! Superb ambience serving exceptional fresh food with friendly service to match. Menu is extensive serving a bar menu, a la carte and a special board serving fresh fish e.t.c. The beer is well kept 2! Look out for the friendly Canadian Landlady, (shame she's married to the chef!)

Amazing food, simply out of this world. A La Carte is fantastic, but even the bar menu is something different.

Guest real ales (including a very tasty one called Bitter & Twisted). Very good food (generous, well prepared and presented). Slightly more expensive than other locals. Friendly landlady.
