Been closed down for past 2 years

This has now closed - as a Wetherspoons, for good I should think.
|
Don't think this pub is open at the moment as it no longer appears on Wetherspoons web site....nearest Wetherspoons is Sir John Oldcastle on Farrindon Road.................
|
No Sky.

Was closed Sunday 20/07 so no review. Is it normal to be closed on a Sunday? Lights inside where litten... Went for a pint across the road: The City Pride...

The whole place smelt like a Parisian street (i.e. more than a hint of open sewer). Limited choice of real ale, despite the large display about the ongoing beer festival near the bottom of the stairs. Few people in despite it being office chucking-out time. Overall, very disappointing (I suggest going to the Sir John Oldcastle a short distance down Farringdon Road instead).

Great place, heaps of room, reliable Wetherspoons service, cheap drinks and value-for-money food. The downstairs location is excellent, with great views of the sidewalk above. Staff were amazingly friendly, place was very clean, efficient service. Was lacking a bit of atmosphere on the night I went as it was fairly empty, but I can imagine it is great on busier nights. Traditional location with a long history in the area.

Despite being in a basement, this pub is fully accessible for wheelchair users via a lift just inside the doorway. There is a disabled toilet.
Better than average Wetherspoons, plenty of room on my mid-afternoon visit and a relaxed atmosphere in which to watch a Test Match: a minor point here, but why do Spoons' pubs insist on showing those subtitles which are always comically inaccurate?

I used to drink in this pub after occasionally after work a few years back. I Liked it. I rememeber them selling pints of Stella and Double Redbull and Vodka for 1.99 each - the cheapest I have ever seen either of these drinks.
To the poster below who says it resembles a converted factory the clue is in the name!
|
right this place is ok before it was full of rowdy teens but they have stopped playing certain types of music so it is quieter on the weekends now.
normal weatherspoons drinks but with a dancefloor open til 3 :) oh and prepare to be searched by the bouncers as u go in
|
Pleasant and courteous service on the morning of my recent visit. Fair selection of beers and the pint I sampled (to my eternal shame, I can't remember what it was) was pleasing enough. Early in the day it does rather resemble a converted factory. I imagine the reason for this is that it is something of the sort.

Now that the World Cup is over, I will confess...this is a fabulous location for watching any matches. They have huge plasmas everywhere, tons of seats, and people come who want to watch the game and drink. Don't know about the weekend dance parties, but stop by on the weekend to catch your favorite team.

What was I on when I said it was OK? I was drunk, it was Friday, there were lots of teenage girls dancing. Went back last night and it was HORRIBLE. Enough said. Its a Wetherspoons and a grim one at that.
I don't even trust my own reviews now, if I were you I'd stop reading them.
3/10 and that's being nice.

This place is actually OK. Friendly enough staff behind the bar, full Wetherspoons range with truly unusual guest ales. I used to live next door and sometimes on a quiet night you can bag one of the exposed brick alcoves and hide away for a cheap drink and a quiet chat and it hits the spot.
One Friday me and a mate went in for a laugh and it was packed, full of teenagers, with a dance floor and a dj. Totally random.
Personally I wouldn't touch the food in a Wetherspoons, so no comments there.
Obviously its a Wetherspoons so its strangely sad and depressing at the same time, but actually this one is difficult to dislike.

good choice of real ales - none of the regular muck, and a knowlegable bar man - yes i blinked a few times and i was in a Wetherspoons !

Nice and cosy arches which are cool for small groups. Big screens for sport and as a few of us found out the other week, dj on a friday. TOTALLY RANDOM!
Not a bad bar, again a place that i've never had a bad night in.
Cheap beer too what with it being a spoons.

it's a weatherspoons. What more do you need to say.

Haven't been in the Printworks for the last 18 months and, wow, has it gone downhill! The beer was dreadful stuff (even the Guiness was poor-and I didn't think you could get that stuff wrong). The 2 Marstons were "weak" as was the summer ale. Resorted to bottled beer, which you shouldn't need to do in a Weatherspoons Pub. The attitude of the staff was poor (in her rush to have a ciggie break, she forgot to finish pouring the Guiness-perhaps she knew how crap it was ?). This place used to have really good Managers (like Danny) and the beers were always excellent- and as cheap as chips. Now they're not even that cheap. Don't bother.

better than average wetherspoons
|
Great service with attentive barstaff, as cheap as you'd expect from Wetherspoons, good decor with lots of seating, food looked good too, the only negative I can think of is that it's a bit dark as it is a basement boozer.
|
It is a pub with a lovely atmosphere, with a definite steadfast of regulars. The staff are great and seem to know all of the regulars not just by name but by drink too!

One of the better 'spoons boozers.
Nice and cosy.
