This is a single room pub just opposite Bog Island which is very easy to miss. It blends seamlessly in to the rest of the Georgian terrace and does little to advertise it’s presence other than discreet signs above the door and on the railings and a few tables and chairs outside. Whether this is through choice, or planning restrictions I’m not sure. Together with the wide pavement and flower troughs on the window sill, this makes for an attractive looking building although the gaggle of smokers in the doorway were slightly off putting, and also singularly ineffective at keeping the smoke out since it blew straight back in.

At one time this must have been a very elegant pub with it’s floor to ceiling wood panelling and was presumably attached to one of the adjacent hotels. These days it seems to have been turned in to more of a sports bar unfortunately, and there were numerous plasma screens dotted around as well as a projector screen. These were all showing the rugby, and the sound was piped to additional speakers around the room which made it very difficult to escape if that’s not your thing. Rugby is clearly a central theme here, understandable perhaps given it’s location, and there were also numerous photographs and a shirt displayed on the walls.

A pool table dominated the left hand side of the room, and cues were apparently available for a £5 deposit which struck me as unusual. Are the punters in the habit of walking off with them? The flooring was old wooden boards and the maroon paintwork on the ceiling contrasted with the cream walls. Other than that, there was little of any note.

Despite four pumps on the bar, only two were in use dispensing Tribute and their own Lambretta’s Gold. Ciders were well represented though with Thatcher’s Gold, Stowford Press and Wilkins Farmhouse, the latter being served direct from the barrel.

Pleasant pub centrally located. Good beer, comfortable seating. It used to have far to many tables and chairs but they've thankfully thinned things out. There are tvs to watch sport, and streetside tables for a bit of people watching. Worth a visit.

Our traditional stop as visiting rugby supporters following the game at the Rec. If you are a real ale drinker don't be put off by the name or the relatively unprepossessing frontage, it's got a great atmosphere inside. The place was quite understandably heaving following the game but although the queue at the bar was three deep when we got there we were served very quickly by very friendly staff. Sadly the Bellringer was off but the Baker's Draft at 2 a pint was more than an adequate compensation. (Interesting a half pint was 1.40 - just confirms to me that if you are going to have a beer, there is no point in half measures!)

Great pub, great atmosphere and a great selection of beers and lagers. I find this place really cool and unintimidiating and is priced in line with most other bars around. Probably my favourite bar in Bath, has everything just about right. Go in there!

Great place, very friendly and ideal to pop in to for a swift pint of Abbey Ales Bellringer. And they have a annual Lambretta rally!

This is an interesting little bar with an unremarkable frontage that you might not think of visiting. However inside you will find a comfortable bar, a decently priced pub menu and a couple of real ales, including Bellringer. The eponymous motorcycles have now been moved next door and the bar is part of the Parade Park Hotel if you are looking for somewhere to stay. If you are visiting for the day its about 5 minutes walk straight up Manvers St from the train and bus stations.

Unusual for a theme bar like this to offer decent real ales - worth a visit as it's one of the first places you'll stumble across if you've come in by train.

Real beer with a strange 125cc twist, funky, fun and not as pompus as many of the other bars in town.

Lambretta's sounds as if it should be a ghastly pseuds' corner type of trendy bar, with the usual clumsy dose of theming and gimmickry. Yes, there is a Lambretta scooter outside. But there the tawdriness ends. Thankfully, this is a welcome recent addition to the Bath scene, and whilst it is emphatically modern in its approach, it has not eschewed all the relevant and worthy aspects of a more traditional outlet.
A good range of ales are kept in good nick; anything from Fuller's London Pride (ubiquitous where I'm from but a relative rarity here) to Abbey Bellringer.
It is predictably popular with youngsters, but in my experience all well-behaved and genuine appreciators of the place, not solely after loud music, over-priced fizz and minimalist decor. There are comfy sofas, but not in a "ex-furniture store converted to winebar" kind of way. It does get busy, but this creates a healthy buzz and ensures that it doesn't lapse into sterility. Service on the other hand, can be an issue and you'll possibly need to be firm but fair but some staff whose minds might not fully be on their job.
A good place for a private function, and also I believe the Parade Park hotel above offers accommodation at a competitive price for central Bath.
Don't let the gimmicky name put you off if you're a traditional pub fan!
