Very, Very bad pub, ADVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS!

Good potential to get a reasonable real ale as it is a free house, Doom Bar when I visited on 17th May '13. Staff slow, can't identify who has been waiting and who has just arrived and were rude when this was pointed, refusing to serve me again! Carried out "bottling up" despite saying they were too busy to serve efficiently. Whilst the person who claimed to be the manager was telling me she would not be serving me again a third person came to the bar to complain about slow service. Barman became very animated towards one complainant who identified that he, too, had not being served and used borderline racist language in his reply! Waited nearly 40 mins for surf and turf, steak very tough and chewy when it did arrive. Would not go back.

Built into the Travelodge complex, Sovereigns represents the very worst kind of chain pub, and is probably in breach of the Trades Desciptions Act. Its sign advertises fine wines, but only cheap plonk and middle-range fighting wine was available. It also offered fun - but for whom? Not the serious pub-goer. In fairness, it offered "Extra cold beers" - this was certainly true of the Sharps Doombar I had, although that's not a good thing and the pint was tasteless and unenjoyable. I didn't try the food, which looked like the standard Happy Hungry Horse-eater fare, and in any case there were 2 people at the bar independently complaining about the quality of their meals. Again, in fairness, the smell of stale chip-fat should have kept my expectations in check. Of the 6 staff on (all wearing their corporate polo-shirts), only one lady was prepared to serve beer. It's convenient for the ferry port, but then so are other places. Not worth including on a crawl.

Had a really lovely sunday roast here. much better than the beef eater down the road. Some good quality real beers too. they have some good deals on especially at lunch times.

Family friendly pub , good value meals but the portions are not the most generous i have seen . Three real ales on tap , all in very good condition . Attached to a travel lodge , directly opposite the channel ferry terminal . Worth a visit if you are waiting for a ferry with the kids .

Family focused pub, served good food all day every day. Childrens Wacks Warehouse attached. Wait times on food can be quite high, 2 meals for 10 Monday to Friday-steaks are included in this deal. Food was excellent, staff are friendly and helpful.
