Nice and friendly venue. Recommended if you are in the area.

This is a great put. It has changed hands in the last year and the new owners certainly seem to have improved things. The food is good and the atmosphere welcoming. I was very surprised when walking in - from the outside the pub doesn't look much (and its location, next to an oil refinery, doesn't help) but once inside it is actually a really nice pub - very well done out, nice decor and very comfortable seats (good mixture of tables and chairs, and comfy sofas) with a separate dining room.

Nice decor...but a horrible place to be in. If I had to match a pubs 'personality' to a person then I'd compare this place to a politician akin to John Major or Tony Blair. A bland & truly soulless place with absolutely no personality at all.

over a year since me last review and nothing much has changed in my eyes , still friendly and fast service , good mix of punters , nice smoking area . out of the two pubs in purfleet this is miles and away the best .

I drink in the Fleet regularly and have never felt like the men are expecting a stripper. Everyone is friendly, the food is good and there is an excellent quiz on Thursday nights. Karaoke first Saturday every month is a great laugh.

this is our local work pub , used to be the royal till this place opened , the decor in here is superb , would make you think you was up london not sitting near esso refinery , friendly staff and good quality beer . a little bit pricey but hey its a good quality pub , got a couple of fruit machines and one quiz machine , and a seperate dining area , but quite a roomy bar area

If this place is better than the Royal Hotel then I shudder to imagine what that's like. The Fleet has no atmosphere whatsoever, the food is mediocre at best, the TV screens dominate the entire pub and are far too loud. Many of the clientele appear to be expecting a stripper by the way they gawp at any female in the place which makes it pretty uncomfortable.

A new pub in the expanding village of Purfleet. So much nicer than the Royal Hotel, attracting a much better clientele. Also has two real ales - Adnams and Courage. Not tried the food but the menu looks good. Prices are very reasonable. Plenty of TVs for the sport and a huge screen for certain games. Nice beer garden too.
