Charming country pub in the middle of nowhere. Just one real ale but it was straight from the barrel and was well-kept. Food must be good as the eating area was packed with a well-heeled clientele. I sat outside the front and enjoyed the Tawny Owl hooting across the road. Marginally preferable to The Fox, despite the lack of choice of ales.

This is a very strange pub. I dropped in here on a dark, early March evening. Only one ale was on offer, it was instantly forgettable. Large fireplace with a good fire roaring and a few locals gathered 'round. The place had the feel of the pub in 'An American Werewolf in London'. The landlord was friendly enough, maybe just a little to 'inquisitive' but, then again I was a complete stranger. He seemed happy enough, drinking his large vodka and tonics, looked like he'd had a few as well!! For all that it's worth a visit. I will go back.

Popped in yesterday for a couple of very good pints of Swift One. The entire clientele of the pub were in their 40's, which made me feel out of place (I'm 25). Bar staff were very friendly and polite. No kids allowed (bliss), and make sure your mobile phone is switched off as they fine you 1 for usage.
Don't think I'll be going back here though, it's not really my scene.

Excellent country pub. Wallop ale was very good and so was the price. Nice ploughmans as well. Shame you need to drive to get here.

The Cricketers is our favorite local pub, off the beaten track but always lively, very friendly, always great food. My parents are vegetarian and yes the menu for them is limited but we've been several times and they always have a great time. Love the pizzas, great whitebait, great nachos. Local beers are nicely chosen, wine is good and not too pricey. No music but plenty of buzzing atmosphere and beautiful open fire. A real gem, especially good for cosying up in the winter months.
If you are a miserable, hard to please veggie, head to the wetherspoon in town for a bean burger, if you want decent home cooking at excellent prices and great hosts, come here!
We're off there tonight!

Don't come here if you're a vegetarian, all of the 11 main courses on offer were for meat eaters only. For my birthday 'meal' with my family I ended up having a cheese roll. I think they very much pride themselves on being pro-hunting/pro-shooting & don't care much for people from towns. The place is unwelcoming, with plenty of warning signs. On the outside of the building there is a notice saying that noisy children will not be 'tolerated', when you walk in there is a notice declaring that the Chancellor of the Exchequer is banned from the pub and then another sign demanding 'SWITCH MOBILES OFF!' (or similar) chalked up on a board, if you dare to receive or make a call you will be fined 1.00. One of the locals was sniffily complaining that it would be very difficult to survive on 10 million a year, so you can imagine the types that come here. What a funny place, I couldn't wait to leave after a very disappointing meal. The Bar person barely raised a smile, I certainly won't be coming back!
