Pub is in a very good location right next to Hooe lake.
It was pouring down when we visited this pub and once inside it had a very pleasant atmosphere with a roaring log fire to dry ourselves off.
Worth a visit, although my only problem was it was just a tad too local for me and I did feel a little intrusive at times.

This Pub has been saved. The new Land lord and Land lady have really made an inpact on this pub and now it is gaining a very good reputation as a great place to go. Food is great and they don't tolorate thugs drunks and loud disruptive people. The quiz night on Wed is a real laugh and for one pound to join the quiz you can't complain, as they even feed you a small meal for free while doing it. Friday nights and Saturday nights are busy. It is also one of the cheapest places to go for a pint in the local area. At present saving you around 30p compaired to most other pubs. Really enjoy it and the locals are very friendly. Very recomended!

Recently sold - no food, no accomodation, much reduced real ale choice, rather lairy landlords "friends" clogging up the bar - not impressed..

THRILLED THAT THESE 2 UNPRETENTIOUS PEOPLE HAVE WON THE RIGHT TO RUN THIS QUAINT OLD CHARMER. ITS ABOUT TIME IT HAD SOME DECENT MANAGERS IN TO GET RID OF THE RIFF RAFF ELEMENT THAT USED TO FREQUENT THE PLACE. IT REALLY IS A FANTASTIC PUB WITH LOTS OF CHARACTER AND THEY ARE MAKING A REALLY GOOD JOB OF RUNNING IT. MONIAS COOKING IS GREAT AND STUARTS ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS ARE REALLY BEING PUT TO GOOD USE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH.
