Of course fantastic location. One of the best ways to visit this place is to use the Babbacombe cliff railway and then walk along the shore to it. The road was in a ridiculous state and I wouldn't fancy driving up or down it.
Just too expensive though as it markets itself as a boutique hotel more than a pub. Worth a visit on a lovely day though.

Why is the first thing I see when I click onto this 'pub' a picture of a bedroom??!! What has that got to do with the pub or the beer it sells? Have the management of this establishment blatantly exploited this website to plug itself? I think we already know the answer.

Stopped in the Beach Cottage for 4 nights last week. Beautiful spot for some R&R. True the beer is dear as is the food 9especially the 60 baked potato!!), but the view and the surroundings are beautiful. This is not just any old boozer, it is a destination pub. Great pint of Otter and Tribute. one evening the chef cooked up the 29 Pollock and 3 mackerel that we caught off the pier that morning and it was pleanty to feed 8 so if you are worried about the portion sizes, catch your own fish!

expensive food.. Ordered adult fish in batter and a child's portion of the same. There was almost no difference in portion size. If you go, buy two child's portions if you are hungry because one adult portion won't be enough. Two child's portions costs the same as one adult !! Other than that, nice pub and good views across the bay.

wow thsi place has changed since the last time we were here. Must be the steepest hill ever to get to a pub. Luckily the wife drove. Cracking local ales. Food was overpriced and wife fish overcooked but that can happen. Id imagine this place is heaving in the summer. Best view of any pub EVER

Now open again and it has improved massively. They now sell a variety of real ales and have improved the outside area including what appeared to be a pizza oven. It really is a lovely pub now and impressed our party of real ale fans!

Was closed up last year. Not sure what is happening there.
Anyway discovered this place years back, loved it as the location is superb, but like so many other pubs down here with such enviable assets such as seaside views and charm, it seemed to make no real effort and just sat back complacently thinking that tourists will pop in.
The staff were not very friendly despite our efforts to try and chat and praise their pub and location. Also parking is a nightmare - there is hardly any and the nearby beach car park where you have to pay is generally full up in Summer. No way can most folks walk up and down that hill! In fact driving up and down it while other folks try to is a nightmar ein itself, and having some idiot make you reverse on that gradient in the car we ha dwas almost worthy of inciting an accident! Didn't eat there as food looked average and people seemed to be waiting a very logn time for waht was bog standar pre pared microwaved fare.

I hear it has been taken over by the Lands End man but have not been in it since then. A hard place to get back from if walking - that hill! - but the trip is worth it for the view of the beach and sea and the wonderful cheesy leek and potato or fish pies. Great location, nice inside (although not the "family" room) and lovely pies.
