Heard the landlord wants to turn this place into another use. Such a shame as its a no nonsense, bullshit free live music joint with good real ale. Local camra branch are you listening?

Large and spacious pub with emphasis on live music. Tidy and well-kept interior. Quiet on my Saturday lunchtime visit. Had a pint of the well-kept Tim Taylor's Bolt Maker at £2.90. Friendly welcome and service. 8/10.

Visited this afternoon and despite being on a main road with a bus stop right outside, it was dead!

Bank of five hand pumps, of which four were on, offering Tim Taylor Golden Best, Tim Taylor Landlord, Phoenix Arizona, and Theakston Best Bitter. I went for the Arizona (4.1%) at £2.80 for the pint. Have had this before so I knew what to expect, and it didn't disappoint. There was a small chalk board behind the bar listing the real ales, and pricing was £2.70 / £2.80 / £3.00 depending on the ale, which seems reasonable enough to me!

Service was quick (obviously, as the place was empty) but not overly friendly and the barmaid seemed more interested in getting back to her phone than pulling my pint. To be fair she was probably bored stiff, but even so.

This place is clearly geared up as a live music venue with a stage opposite the bar. Plenty of seating though some sections of the pub were in darkness - they perhaps don't bother turning all the lights on when they are quiet!

There was a TV on showing a match on BT Sport. One solitary song came on over the speakers, rather randomly, then nothing else when it had finished.

Worth a visit for the number of real ales available, and to be fair it was a decent pint. Perhaps better to visit during a busier period if it's atmosphere you're after. I would definitely consider going again.

Impressive music venue with a good selection of real ales and a cider too. It's a fairly intimate venue for bands. But it's big enough as a pub. Horse racing was on the TV. The barman seemed friendly enough and took the trouble of finding out who produced the cider for me. Ales were Wells Bombardier, Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, Brains Merlin's Oak, Theakston Best Bitter & Theakston Christmas Ale. The cider was a new one for me - Bere Cider Company Goldrush. Well worth a visit when in Oldham.

Opened at 2pm on Easter Monday - private party pending. It had two ales possibly three on the go - can't remember what I had but it was on it's way out, like the current landlords - change of management pending apparently.

Can't understand the low rating. Live music and decent real ale, what's not to like?

When you walk in it is immediately obvious that this is a rock joint. Has live bands on some nights. Has a couple of handpumps dispensing a Phoenix beer and a guest. It's not a bad place to go for a pint. Not great decor, OK beer, as I said it's not bad.

Only been in here a couple of times, but it seemed really nice. Bar staff were very quick and friendly. The only slight criticism is that the quiz machine ripped me off for a quid and rather than just giving me a quid back, I was asked to fill in a form (which I couldn't be arsed doing). I can understand why they did this, and it is only a small criticism.

What a cracking rock bar. went there on friday and the place was rammed, really great atmosphere and music. Beer was cold and really good! Best pint in Oldham.

One of the nicer pubs in the town, with a beer garden at the rear. Beer was cheap too a really good pint of carling extra cold. They certainly know how to keep a good pint!

Large pub with multiple rooms, TV (no Sky sports), darts and Phoenix brewery real ales. Much more expensive than its near neighbours.
