I agree with Odbod plus oh so slow! Waited 45 minutes for our lunch order, then barman (landlord?) deep in conversation with another customer even while serving me. Despite good beer, overall a bad experience, not to be repeated.

I am surprised this pub is as popular as it is. Food is overpriced and distinctly average, the signature burger can be found elsewhere cheaper and better. Ales are very nice though as is the pub itself (very characterful).

A remote & charming country gem. Ancient interior and furniture, complemented by excellent ales and good food, with game prevalent. Have been there twice now & shall definitely go again if in the area.

Nice little pub. Stopped for lunch on a lovely spring day. Beer- tastes fresh and well kept, from local brewerys. Food- realy nice; i had sausage and mash and it was fantastic.

Superb home made food, very highly recommended. Excellent choice of well kept local ales. Roaring fire. Dog friendly. Shame there are not more locals at the bar in the evenings. Well worth a visit.

A lovely unspoilt character pub. Good beer, well kept and served. Although we did not have food it looked quality, home-cooked and well presented. My only complaint was a Reserved sign on each and every table although the pub was empty. We were put off sitting down and even considering food. The management need to look at this system, which came over as very unwelcoming.

Noel keeps a superb pub with excellent beers. There are always local beers on and usually one from Stonehenge Ales, the nearest brewery.

My only comment is that the food, while very good, is expensive for what it is.

Returned once more to this fine pub while taking a driving break from the 303. Chatted to a lady who was the daughter of the previous owners (about 20 years ago). She recognised a few faces and the carpet!!!
Not that there is anything wrong with the carpet they just bought a good one in the first place. In her day the menu was standard pub grub, unlike the current menu although sounds as though the real element was alive then as it is now (although probably less micros)

Not been here for a very long time but if it is still under the same ownership then great - they do/did a fantastic burger and I have many fond memories of the place. Great to see pubs that play live music aswell, even if it is out in the paddock out back.

Hope that it remains to do aswell as it can! Great Beers

A proper olde English country freehouse with a good range of ales. A cozy traditional interior and nicely hidden away from it all, I like!

Village pub that lies in wide main street to the north of the church. Appears to have a busy local following with a good range of food. Is Good Beer Guide listed.
Had 4 ales available from which we chose Butcombe and the better half had to choose between the wines available by the glass.
